No worries my CPC enemy, Jokes

Edit, On a side note the c2n can be very fussy with it's alignment, even a 1/4 of a turn of the screw can put it out!

Hardly, I like all the 8-bit machines!

The only game that I feel beats all is the Amstrad version of Dizzy, in game music

That tape head tester is awesome! It basically told me that all three tape decks are f.... every amount of screw turn would cause it to hit 3000 and reset, not once did it go anywhere near the 40000. At most 2000

I'm done with it and going to save up for an SD device

Was that with the audio-casette adapter? Because then I would suspect the problem is with that one and not the datasettes.

Want a laugh?

I tried three ordinary tapes and they didn't get above 100!

Doesn't it only work with it's own tape, i.e. with data it knows?

Hmm didn't think of that!

To be honest mate it's so much faffing about, I think I'll just save up for an SD2IEC

Probably a good idea in the long run - my hair would be greyer and thinner if I had to load everything through the tape port today.

Isn't it grey already after reading all my C64 tape deck moans?

Nah, I like the datasette for its simplicity. I just don't see a reason for using it for loading stuff since there's several faster ways of doing it.

I had 3 faulty ones I got almost for free a little while ago that I just got around to fixing. They all had bad azimuth and needed cleaning of the head and wheel. One had a slipping belt and another had a bent eject pin. All three work great now. The one with the slipping belt had the azimuth screw almost completely out - I guess a previous owner might have tried to adjust his way out of the slipping belt, obviously without success.

That's strange because i was able to boot it up in the C64 emulator and it ran fine before i posted the link and tap file!

Doesn't matter now as you have located it elsewhere.

Also with your tape issues, have you tried giving the tape port connectors on the back of the C64 a good clean, as with age they get get tarnished.

And before i got my SD Infinity i must of gotten lucky with the cassette adapter method, as apart from some tweaking of the volumes and disabling equalizers on my pc that was outputting the audio, my c2n didn't aligning at all, it just worked!

Also i would screw it down so the head looks level, then start tweaking it from there with the alignment, adjusting it 1/4 turn each time.
Go one way to start with and if no luck, start again and go the opposite way!

From my experience, if the screw is tightened down or really loose, it won't work , it needs to be around the center/level position somewhere, or just near it on an ever so slight angle!

And lol, from my masses of pirated tapes that i used as a kid from swapping games with mates etc, it was a never ending job having to align the c2n for games to work.
I ended up becoming an expert at it because i had to do it so much, but once i added some leads so i could hear the tape signal being played through a speaker, it made the job really easy to do!

Later on i ended up buying a disk drive which was nice to have back then!
