Yes, if there were RadeonHD 3D drivers then the PCI 9250 would be irrelevant.

The 33mhz pci slot HW limitation seems like a massive oversight. I have often wondered, did it just slip by unnoticed or did one of designers think it was unimportant as RadeonHD drivers were imminent?

There are no PCIe GFX card drivers for the X1000? Wow, no multi-core, no new GFX cards... fun

The X1000 seems like a pedal car in a Ferrari body...

There are very good RadeonHD 2D drivers.

A driver for OpenGL 2 and later is pretty huge beast. Part of it involves writing and entire high-level language compiler for shader code. But I'm surprised there's not even a complete OpenGL 1.3 profile, or is there?

Right, 2D drivers, that's great for 3D

Can't this stuff be ported from Linux? Or is that overly complicated?

As we already announced it, but it wasn't ready. So it is coming, .

This might be the wrong place to ask, but does anyone know where to buy an AmigaOS4.1 compatible machine nowadays? I always had 500's and other retro models, but never had the newer amiga stuff.. OS4.1 looks really great!
//edit:
I have checked some sites... most of them dont have anything on stock, and AmigaKIT only has the most expensive piece left...

The only machines you can still buy are the X1000 (which AmigaKit sells) and the SAM motherboards (SAM 460ex, SAM 440ep https://acube-systemsbiz.serversicur...m-motherboards) and bundles (like the AmigaOne 500 https://acube-systemsbiz.serversicur...4-case-systems )

They won't be cheap in any case I think Acube might have some more stock this September - they're on holidays now.

Otherwise, look in the used market. AmigaOne XE, AmigaOne SE, Pegasos I, Pegasos II and EFIKA are the ones you want to look for.
They cost more than a SAM even if used though, as they're rarer

Thanks Jbenam,
I will keep an eye on secondhand shops and the Acube store. I was already thinking about 1k tot 1.5k price. It is indeed expensive, but I just want to have that amiga experience in my life. ;-)

I think a signature game for the X1000 could be Turrican 4 (2D or 3D) as long as the gameplay, graphics, sound effects and audio are up to par in the Amiga Systems evolution.

Have you considered a morphos machine? A Mac Mini can be bought for very little money.

Would that really convince people to cough up more than one grand just to play it?

Also, the developer should really really love working for free, as there isn't much money to be made from commercial Amiga releases nowadays

Whoever makes Turrican 4 will need to speak to the rights owners of the franchise then.

I don't think it's going to happen sadly

as time rolls on there seems to be fewer developments with OS4

Unless something miraculous happens... such as a member of EAB winning the Euro's lottery.

I thought they were making Turrican 4 FPS in early 2000 but canned it.
Would have loved to have seen that.
