Nice. I would be definitely interested in this piece of hardware in that price.

We'll be taking preorders soon. Once that happens I will post the address of web site for preorders here. I will also PM everyone who expressed interest (so they won't miss the preorder). Stay tuned!

Great stuff, pre-ordered as of now

I have another SRam card here (early Mitsubishi) so I'll do some comparisons after you ship the card

i'm really impressed by the quality of new products being produced in the Amiga community at the moment, i wish i had the skills and means (and especially the motivation) to do this sort of thing

My example shows it's not that complicated. I got interested in how Amiga works on a hardware level around 2 years ago. I received my first CPLD prototyping board 1,5 years ago (a present from wife for christmas). And to be honest I'm quite busy man, sometimes I couldn't work on anything Amiga-related for whole weeks! Still I researched, dug through documentation, prototyped... and voila 2 years after I started educating myself on electronics, this board surfaced. Actually work on this particular SRAM expansion started in January (this year). Of course, I didn't do it all myself, I think jarob did the hardest work here (PCB layout, soldering the prototypes).

Anyway, we decided to make everything related to this card open source, to help the future generation of Amiga hackers.

So if you, or anyone else have any questions related to how the heck does that thing work, feel free to ask (this thread seems like a good place to do it).

As the cards are nearly complete, we've launched the web site:

The original Sakura boards, as discussed in this thread are almost complete - just minor stuff left like packaging, sending to shop, etc. We estimate they will be shipped to users in next two weeks (everyone who preordered will get information from the shop soon).

In the meantime we are thinking about making a much more advanced version in the future. This new version could have the following features:
- 2 or 4 MB Fast RAM, performing similarly to the current Sakura board (accelerating unexpanded A1200 to 1.92 MIPS)
- Ethernet 100 Mbit
- bootable microSD slot
- Flash ROM to hold the boot code and drivers
- Attribute memory for CIS supporting read/write (unlike current Sakura where it is read-only)
- clockport maybe?

The original version was designed for people who want just the low cost memory expansion. In this new version we could focus on power user needs, but of course cost would be much higher too (don't have any estimate yet).

Ethernet + one or two micro SD slots, with option to boot from micro SD rather than internal IDE, would be cool!
