Running too slow

I just updated to Rel2 and noticed that Twintris is only running at about 80% of the original speed, the sound and graphics are slowed down. CPU usage is about 20% when I'm watching the intro. With Rel1 it's about 50% and the speed is perfect. I double-checked with the older executable using the same configuration and program path.

I didn't test any other programs so far.

Windows XP, Athlon 1800XP.

Brilliant work, Toni!
But for me the joystick-handling is kinda messed up.
There must be an error with the x- and y- axis.
While the older versions worked fine for me, the new one has the x-axis (amiga) placed on the y-axis (my joypad) and the y-axis (amiga) is placed on my throttle-button...
I'm using a Logitech Wingman Cordless which worked flawlessly in the previous versions...
But nonetheless a very impressive release, keep it up!

Toni, just one little question that I've not seen in the FAQ's anywere. Is there any chance of PPC emu at all? - even an old/slow one would be nice...

awesome work toni!!

winuae just keeps getting better; personally i'm looking forward to sane's kaillera version, so that we can get some lan/internet play going on with some of the aga games using opengl =D

i kinda think it might be a good idea to think of possibly merging forces/sources and including the kaillera and multiplayer-net stuff as default with winuae; it's definitely a handy option for quick jaunts into retrogaming =]

i have a question though, i know this would delve into the realm of non-pixel-accurate emulation, but what do people think of doing post-frame scaling and filtering? i mean, you could take the frames before they've been sent to opengl (or after, possibly?) and do things to the image like those that xmame does, or some of the other emulators do;

does anyone else besides me think this would be possibly useful/helpful, especially in "beautifying" some of the older low-res games? it's been done successfully with a lot of other emulators; everything from atari to playstation, with some really nice effects with lower-res games.

I think Merging kaillera would have its good and bad points. It would be good as to keep it up-to-date with the current realise builds. Bad as not everyone want to play on-line, more confusing for beginners etc. Probably best to keep it separate.

Graphics: I think it is a good idea, but would this cause slowdowns on older systems?

The scale2x would be good on some games, but look bad in other things like workbench.

I think this is where a plugin system (like winamp 2.x) would be good as users could choose what they want.

It could also make it better and easier for external developers to write their own plugins, as there could be a couple of different sound plugins (Directsound, Wave etc..), GFX plugins, Kaillera, Input etc...

Filtering: I won't add software filtering. There are two reasons: 1 - slowdown. 2: UAE's drawing code is optimized for direct output and it is already very complex. I refuse to make it even more complex. (this also means adding plugin support isn't very good idea..) UAE isn't like MAME which needs to support many different display hardware systems..

The correct solution is to improve OpenGL mode or add other hardware accelerated filtering modes.

Kaillera: When WinUAE Kaillera is working (Its Sane's decision)
