Probably because manufacturing the devices costs money, and they need to have a certain amount of pre-orders.

Seriously, the Armiga makes no sense.

It could've been a Minimig (which is kinda real hardware) with a REAL floppy controller, I mean, which can do read/writes directly, not imaging everything and THEN loading an ADF.

And on that, EMULATION? If I want to play an ADF on emulation I'll just grab WinUAE or a Raspberry Pi, download the ADF and play it on that!

Sure, but $140,000 worth?

It's just a custom case with a controller attached to a Raspberry Pi.

If it was all new hardware inside it, then sure, I could understand.

Update - I've been in contact with the product developer regarding your question of AGA support, this was the response : AGA is one of the funding goals, but it's quite demanding, so we cannot promise anything yet . So there you have it!

So is it a goal or not...? I mean if it's a goal then I'd assume it should be in. BUT this would mean having someone with really low level chip knowledge. I don't think there are that many around and I think we know most of them... e.g. Toni.

I have to agree, it seems kind of pointless to me.

You could do the same thing with a little micro PC running WinUAE and just plug it into your TV

What would be cute is a mini-CD32 (3D printed of course) running an AGA FPGA with a SD card slot under the fake CD cover and HDMI output

It's not like the Raspberry Pi, custom controller, disk drive, case or software come for free. Considering the complete system costs $140 to pre-order, maybe they want to get at least 1000 pre-orders in?

It's real generous of them to make it open source when they get 1 million dollars, considering most of the software this waste of space uses is open source already.

What. They're using UAE4All, they can just copy-paste a bit of source from UAE4All2 which supports AGA emulation and bam, there you go.

This sounds like a big scam. They want money to "implement" something which is ALREADY out there?

Oh no! Perhaps, they need even more funding then! They say, that they don't earn a penny right now with their campaign
