I'm sure there was some kind of demo only for press and future-publishers and I'm sure that Psygnosis/Team17 once got that disks. For some time Digital Illusion was searching for publisher and send that "demo" to different big publishers to check who will be interested in helping them. As for SMD version DICE once show how game works [ Show youtube player ]

In my opinion showing download link in public place could be illegal, but writing about what we know is legal.

I respect your opinion.
But if you give only links to other site, I do not think it is illegal.
HOL or Lemon Amiga gives links to public sites
In any case, it is illegal, the site with the server that has the files and are public.
Also, if the author appears and does not want to appear info or links of his work, you can remove

He had seen the video of Hardcore, but I think the version Amiga reached only 60%

I respect that, and I'm sure there is many factors to judge what is legal and what's not - most publishers do not fight with people who upload abandonware games because they do not interfere with current source of making money. HOL is "educational" site, they do not host some files only gives links to other sites who usually got rights to host those files.

Gzegzolka, Well that's what I say.
Any site that gives info,is educational and also gives links to sites with rights then it's legal.
Planetemu, gamesarchive etc have rights? Do they pay or paid? I do not think
