OpenPower... slightly too late IMHO...

http://www-03.ibm.com/press/us/en/pr...ease/41684.wss

IBM will open PowerPC architecture in similar way as in ARM case... IMHO this is to late but perhaps i'm wrong.

It remains to be seen whether this will have any implications for nextgen Amiga development, though...

Could this lead to Emulating PPC so we can run OS4.x on X86 PC's?

nope - PowerPC is emulated from some time

This (OpnePC) is more like ARM which is now everywhere - from small uC (replacing 8 bit) to large SoC's etc.

Not sure - for sure Power PC seem to be not apropriate to fit in decently cheap FPGA - and seem that only FPGA are Amiga chance - building cutom ASIC means at least 200 - 500 thousands chips - not sure that nowadays Amiga can be atractive to such group of customers (i mean even 20$ SoC with ARM can be more advanced).
