It's still the old-new hardware, but a new OS and app versions and stuff. Though I do happen to believe that RCK wouldn't mind that stress test...

Send a message via ICQ to lilalurl
Wasn't some RAM added? I remember reading that in the temporary page messages.

@dlfrsilver
Good points. Thanks for the source.

@Cpt. Hindsight
1. I've posted good CPC versions but also bad ones (Ghost'n'Goblins, Outrun...) - and just said wars are pointless. Apparently not for you...
2. Topic is "Amstrad CPC, much better than I thought it would be!" - not "much better than C64". Do you want to be off topic?

Ah, yes More RAM indeed. Thought lilalurl meant a complete upgrade of the server hardware. Not sure that list will stress the RAM though

That's interesting, this topic makes me want to rediscover the CPC hehe.

I know C64 is the king but what do you people think of the musics on the CPC ?

Music on CPC compared to what ? Compared to C64 it is mostly noise with some background melody if you listen carefully. Compared to ZX Spectrum's beeper it is mostly the same with some background noise removed. So it is hard to say. Mostly crap I would say though ;-)

Ah ok. Reading the name of John Dunn above, I thought there were decent chip tunes to listen to on this computer.
Nevermind, there's always the HVSC...

Maybe good in relation what a limited 8bit computer can do. But clearly not compared to the arcade original. This game isn't aged well, only the 1:1 Sega Saturn port is worth to spend a few minutes.

I was a Speccy owner too and left that for the consoles and Amiga,I too discovered the CPC much later and have recently played some interesting games on it like Satan,Savage and Prehistorik 2 which blew my mind!.The Spectrum has a place in my heart for sure and I follow the massive homebrew scene today but now I am a non biased multi-format retro gamer and have U-turned to explore all systems including ones i never owned in the 80`s. I still think the Zx Spectrum,BBC,CPC and 8-bit Atari have more playable games than the C64.Sure the C64 has a place in retro history for its sound and the (unbelievable) fact it was the best selling home computer globally,I will admit I have played a few games on the C64 which i am certain could not be done better on any other 8-bit but that is not enough!,in my experience it is a simple fact that the number of good playable games on the C64 can be counted in 10`s but on the Zx,Atari,BBC and CPC they can be counted in 100`s.
I regret missing out on the CPC but thanks to emulation i can now catch up.

Then you really haven't played enough C64 games. It's quite the opposite. This means in quality, quantity, through all genres.

The Zx Spectrum 128k machines are where Amstrad CPC 464 owners and C-64 owners should be making direct comparisons. There were 3 games that stood out on the C64 as it was the only time programmers bothered to do anything useful with it they are :Last Ninja, IK+ and perhaps Wizball as I thought the spectrum version of this was equally as good (128k) I noticed somebody quoted "The Amstrad had more games for it than the Spectrum" . Please do your homework before typing such ridiculous information into an important debate, study the facts. http://www.worldofspectrum.org/
