Because the machine is way overpriced and hence no demomaker actually owns one. And it's not a very interesting demoplatform either.

Most coders on PPC NG Amigas, particularly those with X1000, don't have time for demos.
There are the somewhat more pressing things such as drivers and productivity programs to prepare first.

We have to remember that when the classic Amiga was 2 years old there was a multi national company and a global customer base pushing developers forward.
Today on the 2 year old X1000, there is a small number of hobby developers and an even smaller number of professionals pushing things on.

This tiny group of people are making steady progress and should be commended for that.

Indeed, but these guys are rarely (on any platform) the same as the ones making demos.

So, you are saying it hasn't managed to attract people who just want to create stuff for the fun of it?

There's no special hardware to utilize, and if you're making an AmigaOS4 demo, it's not wise to limit it to the x1000.

Well, it couldn't compete in the regular Amiga-compo at any party (PPC is usually not allowed). And it wouldn't stand a chance against modern PC-demos.

Who should?

Why don't you start making a demo for it then?

Why not face it, a reasonable number of x1000 have been sold. Very few (if any) sceners have bought them. Most scene parties exclude PPC.
Demos are way down the list of most OS4 users.

I'm guessing our definitions of "a reasonable number" is differ quite a bit

Three batches sold of between 100 - 300 per batch. So 300 to 900 total.

The Rapsberry Pi has sold somewhere around a million units and 12 productions are listed on Pouet: http://pouet.net/prodlist.php?platfo...&page=1&order=
Might give an idea what britelite hints at

As suggested its just not a very appealing platform for demo coders. Too weak a cpu and poor 3d acceleration would make it stand out vs other platforms it'd be up against, but not in a good way.

demos are cool on my A1000 and A1200 because they push the limits of the classic hardware but there's no appeal for me to see one on my X1000 really except for testing out a new hardware acceleration driver perhaps

Yeah I agree. With older hardware it's fun to see what programmers squeeze out of a system, but with something like the X1000 it's going to be using the same sort of things as other platforms, and be seriously outclassed in them. Maybe some time down the road it'll be in a better position to make demos that people other than x1000 owners find interesting.

p.s. this is of course generalizing, Im sure there's people out there making cool demos for all sorts of obscure systems.

Batman forever on the amstrad show that a good demo is not all about technical stuff.
To me a demo should express something, tell a story to be good not pushing zillions of polygons to won the 1st place.
