Don't have any personal recommendations myself as back in the day I spent countless hours playing Pinball games, namely Dreams / Illusions, with my favourite being Slam Tilt but I would imagine it's kinda difficult making a wallpaper from these and they aren't exactly game characters lol.

*EDIT* There is one - Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. One of my all-time best adventure games. Probably only on the basis that I completed without looking at a solution heh heh.

All the wallpaper you've produced are excellent. Nice work.

I'm already using some of your pix as backgrounds on my laptop and it's really looking great. I just have one suggestion: Could you please make your HGUTL.com logo a little smaller?
Suggestions for future pictures are Cannon Fodder and Speedball 2.

Glad you like them, Indy & Speedball are on their way soon..

The logo will be staying i'm afraid, to leave the possibility for me to sell prints later on.

So far this is just an homage, though i do see unofficial t-shirts all over the place.

I also know a few people who sell game art online already, i don't know yet. Just keeping my options open.

I kinda like how you use a 'normal' images to accompany the ingame characters. Just wanted to say that the James Pond ones feel a bit lost in that department... maybe there's a better image to use?

If you have some ideas send them to me & i'll give it a try..

Technically I start off doing the characters then i montage / make a backdrop i feel fits the mood of the game. Then i bring my photoshop image into my setup in the 3d program & tinker with the light set up again..

A new batch of wallpapers fresh for your critique & perusal..

http://hgutl.com/buggy-boy-speed-buggy/
http://hgutl.com/dig-dug/
http://hgutl.com/bad-dudes-vs-dragon-ninja/

I've re-made the Bad Dudes wallpaper adding more characters. I'm going to be returning to more of my other older wallpapers soon too.

I think some of the older ones are a bit weak now, lacking variety, relevance or respect in their backgrounds.

p.s. any that you think are a bit weak. This is your chance to mention it..

Nice one and keep it up

P.S.: You can use the pre-configured configs from FS-UAE via the launcher with the latest stable or development release of FS-UAE

So i figure about half of my wallpapers need work. So from now on there will be some new & some (majorly) updated ones.

For now i've done two Amiga updates as the old ones didn't sit right with me.. Both the old & the new versions are on site so you can judge for yourself if i've made them better or worse..

I've decided to get a little more dynamic with the poses & choices of sprites. Bigger sprites but less of them. Here you can see the old & the new.

http://hgutl.com/punisher/

Which do you think is better?

None
Well, actually I'd say none because I have a personal issue with blur used for artistic effect (and motion blur and depth of field etc... in video games).

However, I find the first one better because in the second one, the enemies lining up seems a bit weird.

What I liked in the arcade game was the craziness. If you have the opportunity, I'd suggest try to build something around:

- the exploded cars with a cadaver inside. I think it is level 3 (warehouses) and there are one or two cars that you can destroy, which then explode and you can see the driver cadaver still in position.

- The "desparation" move of Frank Castle and/or Nick Fury.
There is the normal one (done by pressing two buttons) which is a rotating low kick for the Punisher (so-so) and for Nick Fury he removes his belt and make it turn around his head like a psychopath

Even better is the desperation move triggered after grabbing an enemy. The Punisher then grab the enemy heels and spin himself, damaging any enemy around as would a tornado

Nice . It was a great game and some of the moves were inspired, really giving you a "being in the comic" feel.

I'll look up some of those moves. Cheers for the feedback.

Indeed, just at the beginning (the bar), IIRC you can grab some chairs, break it on the enemies and then you are left with one of the chair leg and can throw it on enemies.

The continue screen was a really ncie touch too. You got a physican trying to reanimate the Punisher or Fury, with a heartbeat tracking display on screen.
