Thanks for update and sharing the pics Jens.

If you can overcome the clockport issues it would be worth it as the price of Subway's has sky rocketed due to supply/demand so there's a market for another solution.

What sort of speeds are you getting on the X-Surf with USB II mass storage? I used to get 6.6mb/sec from my Deneb

Good luck!

Excellent news Jens, another fantastic refined product from Individual Computers

Care to share any numbers for the USB module when connected to an X-Surf-100?

The X-Surf-100 is a really attractive proposal when compared to the fact that a super-old Ariadne has pretty much the same price tag, along with no warranty and the fact that is slower. The used Amiga hardware market sure is nuts

The USB module will make it even more attractive

"RapidRoad" appears like it can hold up with that number. The scsispeed thing is done on an A4000 with 060, and the other pic is from my A3000 with 030@25MHz.

@Schoenfeld : Don't release the usb module yet. I'm broke! (XSurf100 was one of the reasons for that :P)

Just pre-ordered a couple of joysticks

Better than paying the same amount for second hand!

Jens, will there be another production run for the Turbo Chameleon 64 this year?

I'm not Jens, but there are Chameleons available through the icomp-store.

That's only true for the USB module that plugs on the X-Surf-100, and that's a target price, not a final price.

*If* I get the clockport mode to work (that's questionsble at the moment, as I have a feeling that the 8-bit mode of the chip is broken), then the set of cables and the plexi-covers will add to the cost.

A shame if it wont work in clockport mode, I'm guessing thats where 80% of the demand will be.

Agree, I want one for my X-surf, but would buy a couple for A1200s (although actually, at eur100+ maybe just another one for now!)

Chameleon is in it's seventh year of development. The project is causing huge losses. Even now, after the price increase of december 2013, I'm losing about 60,- EUR per unit. This subsidized price is in place in order to get more *true* betatesters into the boat. The price will be increased once more when we leave beta status.

Also, don't just look at the price - also check what's included with the unit: The CDTV remote control is now part of the Chameleon, so you're also getting more with the package. Playing games with a remote control is a true killer-app of the Chameleon, and it's amazing at what distances and at what weird angles the remote still works reliably!

The remote might be a nice addition, but well over 300 euro at the time of release sounds quite expensive for a retro toy. I'm sure you got more experience then i do on the topic, but there is a limit to how much people are willing to put down just to experience days gone past... On the other hand, look whos' talking. I bought a ACA1230 @ 56MHz & Indivision MKII. And so far i haven't even been able to get the later working quite as it should... Lack of invested time, i'm sure.

You're making a mistake here, I didn't say that I'll increase the price by 60,- EUR. I'm expecting that once the beta-phase is over, sales will go up (eMails and forum posts from users and those who want to become owners indicate that). If I'm selling more "per month", then the monthly salaries don't pull the project so deep into red numbers.

Maybe higher quantities will make production a bit cheaper, but since there's so much manual work in a Chameleon, this will probably not change much.

Well, here's my constructive criticism/advices...
First of all, I don't know what Chameleon is. And I try to follow the Amiga hardware scene almost religiously. Not to say that I did not try to find out what it is. I got that it is some FPGA tech. Something to do with C64. Or not ? Maybe I got that wrong. I don't know what it does. Don't know the exact price tag. And now some talk about the remote. Whoaaa dontknowwhatsthatabout...

More clear info would certainly draw in more buyers. If I don't know what it is (or will be) I don't know if I want it or not.
