So about that ACA500, is there hope to have it for the summer (best time to play with an amiga as you know)?

What are the current other projects?
I've heard of a zorro LAN card but can't read about it in the german amiga board (don't speak german).

ACA500 isn't forgotten. It's just that another project slipped in, and Nequester is on *very* high priority right now. Things do happen "in silence", and I'm confident I can ship the ACA500 next month.

The X-Surf 100 is exactly what slipped in - with the Nequester project in preparation for the pilot production, I needed "something small" and "something network-related" to build as a test case for label printing, MAC address generation and bar code conversion for automatic tracking on a distributed system which accesses a remote database. All these procedures must be tested on something, and I thought it would be a good idea to test it on a netowrking card for our favourite machines: Z2/Z3 autosensing, 100MBit and a local, fast expansion port for a USB 2.0 high-speed expansion. I'll make the "official announcement" next week. This works better with pictures and our own online store, which is also being prepared.

Meanwhile, everyone could help out testing network performance of their own ethernet solutions. Especially PCI (such as G-Rex, Prometheus and Mediator) are interesting, because they also offer 100MBit. Please post your results (and only your results, no discussion - I'd like to have that thread for overview) here:

http://eab.abime.net/request-other/6...nce-tests.html

thanks,
Jens

Hi @Schoenfeld and also hello to all of us. It's my first post on this forum

Because i'm not able to find any info about this, i wanted to ask - what about IDE controller on that new X-Surf card? Will it stay onboard and start to support Compact Flash cards? It would be great!

X-Surf-100 is pure ethernet, no IDE. There's an extension port that is meant for highspeed USB, and that's way more flexible than just a CF slot.

Let's discuss the X-Surf-100 in a separate news thread when I've made the official announcement. It's a bit OT here.

Yes. Next tuesday is "the big day" for the first 70 units that will go to testers (once I tested my idea to deal with an issue I have with the A500plus).

So do I, but if the problem is removed before the product is released, does it matter that it used to be there? I'm sure the ACA500 had hundreds of various problems during the course of development.

So where can i buy/preorder it? Doesn't seem to be on Amigakit yet.

Just want to know where to go and what to click when it's released.

A little bit of hardware pr0n - tests with local Amigans will start tomorrow, and then I'll ship cards to more testers "one by one" everytime a new feature or a new config must be tested.

I hope that the all testing is done in late september, so the ACA500 will be available for Xmas business.
