Sure you took time to achieve it, but your hardware may not cost so much the unit. And you plane to sold many!
Existing new Amiga expansion with more expansive parts are sold around 150€... (4 layers too)

The FPGA (a 500K gates Spartan 3) cost 9$ if you by only one. SRAM is less that 5$ and connectors cost few cents...
OK to pay your work on it... 120€ will be fine, but over 150€ is just LOL.

If you say so... I have quotes here from production and assembly companies. The price you mention is below production cost.

But since you get better prices somewhere, would you mind helping us making it cheaper?

Oh, and those other EUR 150.- products for sure come with all these features.

Sure, I understand that it may not easy to find the best prices.
Sorry for my impulsive answer (just edited) but I'm waiting it since so much time and can't understand how it can reach this high target price.

I agree, you can contact me and list all the parts needed so I can help to make is cheaper instead of speaking for nothing.

The parts is not the major issue, it's finding someone that will produce

a) this type of fine pitch
b) build only 50 or 100 boards instead of 1,000
c) do a full QC

And we do have parts on both sides of the PCB.

Please also note the full price is gross, incl. VAT. VAT can be deducted for buyers from outside the European Union.

Help is very much welcome.

Maybe we can just agree we're not trying to rip someone off and yes, there are more expensive than USD9... more like triple the price. Also RAM and FLASH are more expensive.

This is a community driven thing, we don't have any company backing, only money we made ourselves with other projects. So that's money reinvested. Not a Porsche or other fancy things for us personally...

TotO gave me some contacts, so asking them soon...

Is $5.95 okay?
And maybe less if you make an offer when you are buying more than one.

I put in for a formal quote for 50 and 100 to see if earlier quote is for the correct chip...

XC3S500E-4FT256I FPGA Spartan®-3E Family 500K Gates 10476 Cells 572MHz 90nm (CMOS) Technology 1.2V 256-Pin FTBGA

Electronic parts, especially programmables tend to be quite high in price and not due to their initial pricing from the companies that produce them.

It's the suppliers that put an excessive mark up on things and that's where you can be stung. I have many feelers out for anything going cheap to snap up where I can.

Design work is difficult too, many man hours and making sure you haven't overlooked something before it goes to fabrication. Also assembly of the boards, double sided and BGA, now that's where it gets expensive.

I would bet that the Kryoflux blokes are making about 10 Euros per board as profit.

People, be grateful that new hardware is still being produced at all for such an old machine.

I personally find the price very reasonable, considering that my MK4 was priced around 200 euros and that was 5 years ago.

Mr Vince, i would like to ask , if the batch of 50 or 100 you're planning to make, will be the one and only or you plan to make another one? I don't have the knowledge to be a beta tester so if the initial batch is for let's say 20 pieces, i won't be in. But i will definitely buy one from the mass production batch.

250€ sounds acceptable to me. Then I can sell my AR3 cart and some A500 kickstart chips and A500 sidecard hdd to recoup some of the costs!

So anyone wants a refurb FPGA on his EUR 200+ accelerator? PB free is not an option in Europe, it's an obligation...

I must check for the exact type of FPGA...
