Hi,

I would happily stick myself down for one of these, this would be a dream upgrade to my CDTV so that can be another to add to the list.

A post on Amibay may drum up quite a few additional sales if you need to get the numbers up.

Ref the CDTV:-

I take it there would be the requirement to more the large capacitor just above the 68000 IC and possibly remove the molex power conneceotrs and solder directly to the board to fit this due to available space?

-has anyone test fitted this yet to a CDTV?

Cheers,

Stu

Wouldn't it be possible if you disabled the onboard chipmem, like disconnecting their CS and having Zeus doing that? It's not exactly plug and play then, but would avoid needing any chipmem expansions.

The issue is making everything else talk to the CPU socketed "chip" memory.

Alright, this is not going to happen for Christmas, but there are reasons why it won't be under the tree.

Here's two pics of the Zeus68k emulating an AT-Bus 2008 controller. This is highly experimental, but please take a look at the speed. We're talking a 68000 system here. The "original" should get you half of that speed only.

And here's a CDROM drive with IDEfix97, running in an A2000:

Unbelievable!!! What a remarkable speed for an 68000!
I felt blessed with 2.6MB/s from my 030@33MHz A600. Can't wait to see the finished product guys! /respect

Such speeds can be seen on classics only with Idefix Express or FastATA's

Pure FPGA magic. The device can be whatever it wants to be. Well, nearly. And since FPGAs are so fast these days, the limiting factors are within the host, not the device itself.

AR3 support is also working by now...

AWWW this would have been a great xmas prezzie to me and my CDTV, but with all the additional features you are building in I can see the sense in delaying.

All hail the mighty Zeus!

We don't deliver banana products that ripen at the customer. We want to make sure we have a perfect, fully working product, which will make everyone happy.

Cachet often used the term "Anything but the best is a failure". It's hard to maintain that level, but why not go for it. Just going for 90% would be a less satisfactory experience - guaranteed.

The Amiga is so old and some revs are so badly designed in regard to noise and timing that we won't push to just have it out for christmas. But we haven't found a single machine which would not work with the Zeus so far so... fingers crossed.

Great project - i would buy one or two for my Atari STE (depending on the price).

On Atari side i think there would be much more interest in a STE than a ST version because it is more often used nowadays.
