Hints on restoring mouseball appreciated..
Heya.
I was wondering if anyone had any tips on restoring an old ball for a mouse. Its gone all hard and slippery and will only glide inside the mouse, not registering much movement. Its the one on the left. Skincream perhaps? "Because you're worth it" |

Creams will gunk up your mouse.
Have you considered a very fine sand paper to clean it up?

Forget about sand paper. Clean it with water and soap and finally some wax in spray for furnitures. Pronto or similar. I use Pronto with all the plastic devices. You can use it to clean all the mouse and it's cable.

I agree, don't use any abrasives on it all. A good wash in hot soapy water will work wonders.

Thanks. I was joking about the cream so dont worry =)
I did not think normal soap would work since it was like hard plastics and all dried out instead of that rugged surface, but it worked wonders. Left it in some warm soap water and scrubbed it with an old toothbrush and its like new again. Big thanks. You can see the surface looks a lot better in my left ball (umm) then it does in the first picture. |

the darkest ball belongs to those tank A500 mouses while the other ball must be from a mouse supplied with the A1200 or A4000
The darkest ball are very buggy and tend to accumulate dirt easily, also any mouse don't works reliable using those dark balls I recommend to replace both dark balls from quality balls found in a old microsoft mouse or a logitech mouse > the mouse will thank you |
