Rayman on Amiga ?

With the recent release of Rayman Origins, it made me remember of the original Rayman, which was released in 1995. While looking at it, and it's very nice graphics, colors,... I was wondering if such a game (inc. all paralax scrolls and numerous sprites) was possible on an Amiga 1200, back in 1995 (I know it would be easily possible with expanded Amiga with more powerful hardware).

Maybe someone here with some deep knowledge of Amiga's hardware could enlighten me ?

I guess it's doable, wasn't Rayman once announced for Amiga and then cancelled?

The age old question...
Everything is possible on anything, given the right compromises are made.
You'd have to see what makes Rayman the game it is. To me it is the animation.

Origins is a beautiful, fantastic game, which surely stands out for this very reason, the animation and art direction.

Well, I meant: a perfect conversion, not a strip down version with compromises With all 256 colour graphics, animations, sound,...

Of course it's possible to have a weak conversion.

Why would you want that?
Why a "stripped down" conversion should be weak?
Perhaps you don't understand the concept of "essence".

All that matters or, the most important part of a game, is how it looks like???

My question was: is it technically possible to have a perfect conversion, not an inferior one. That's it I won't discuss the why,...

Of course you can keep the game while reducing the graphics,.. But that's not the point.

Less colors does not make an inferior game. Your logic is flawed.

I mean inferior "technically": are we going on playing with words for a long time ?

YES: having less colors doesn't make the game inferior. But again: that's not the point

There's no logic: I just asked if it's technically possible to have that on the Amiga. You answer on something else, analyzing my words. I'm wondering which logic is... "flawed".

The PS has a faster CPU, more colours on screen, a better sounds chip... what was the initial question again?

The CPU is only 33 mhz but the GPU is very powerful compared with the Amiga

The CPU is a lot faster than the 68020 of the A1200. Not that it matters that much here I guess, but if the question is about a 1:1 conversion for Amiga, I'd say it's a quite clear 'Nope'

To answer the original question: Highly unlikely. Even many Super Nintendo games would be hard, if not impossible, to convert 100%. Heck, even Sonic from the Megadrive is already tough to do 100%.

Are you sure? Version posted on EAB is different because it was made in game editor, not from scratch.

Assuming the OP meant the PS1 version, the answer is an easy no.
