Hooooo

It is a WinUAE problem with the two flippers and it hasn't been solved for long. The keyboard code is VERY messy.

No it won't (unfortunetly) - there is a slight delay between when you press the key and when it is actually noticed by WinUAE - it renders all pinball games unplayable - in my mind :-( It is a matter of a few frames though... I noticed this a few months ago, didnt try with the newest WinUAE ....

Check this thread I found via google.com - http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e...b02d1fa&rnum=1

It is a MS bug that stems way back to Windows 95, and is still present in Windows today, it seems. Currently, WinUAE receives and processes keyboard input straight from Windows - that is where the problem lies.

WinUAE must be altered to acquire input from DirectInput, a DirectX component which speaks to your computer's hardware, well, directly (or through a thin layer called a "driver").

Only then will we have fully independent shift keys, and it's true, the ALT keys used to work fine, but not in the latest build. I'll look into it.

Fix? I'd call it rewrite

(but it is mostly done already and Pinball Dreams is confirmed working without stuck flippers)

For now, you can simply avoid the problem:

From the input "menu" of winuae select mode: config #1, Device: keyboard.
Then select cursor left and map it to left shift, cursor right to the right shift.

It works perfectly ( even if it's not so intuitive, but it should work even with others key settings ).

I think it works OK with the Alt keys. Doesn't need to get faster, except maybe for when the ball moves really fast sometimes.
