Nice list, thanks galu.

Another World did very well on the AppStore (if I remember correctly, Apple gave it quite a prominent feature). I must check out Defender of the Crown too!

Just play it on an Amiga / WinUAE then, the iOS "version" is also emulated.

Didn't knew that. I saw Eric Chahi at a conference at Nantes when he did a presentation of how he made Another World and how he was "near death" like the hero (not a coincidence at the end of the game). Now that From Dust is done he said that he want to go back to roots on mobile devices. And no it will not be a remake HD of Heart of Darkness. Kamel

One thing he said was that Interplay wanted to changed the musics and he didn't wanted to. So he wrote in a paper something like "keep the music" made a cylinder and fax that all night long. The next day Interplay had a lot of faxes. But in the end it was Paul Cuisset from Delphine Software who convinced Interplay to keep the muzaks.
Nintendo wanted him to remove the naked womens, so he though about the fax trick but didn't do it, he just removed 3 polygons with its editor.
The game IIRC only contains 8 bitmaps everything else is what he call "pixigone". Small squared polygons, in the end it took too much time and that's why the first screens are more detailed that the others one. He did a lot of copy and past which in the end was a nightmare to maintain.
I asked him to open source it's tools and code and he reply that nobody will be interested cause you need an emulator. Don't think that he know much about actual Amiga community.
He also wanted to do the package artwork which took him 3 weeks to do and the game was late for the same amount of time.

Please note "Ports of Call" on iOS is a complete waste of money. I remembered the Amiga version fondly so wasted $5 on this horrid iOS version a few years ago. It did not translate well to iPhone. Other games are awesome like Pinball Dreams or Battle Squadron for example.

Nitro (pronounced 'Retro Racing') is now available on iOS and it's from the original author, Jamie Woodhouse of Qwak fame.

Thanks dreemkatcha! Yes, it's definitely inspired by Nitro, just a bit faster, more like F1. It's doing really well in the UK, currently #1 in games>racing! Wooo!

Not to be pedantic, but the vast majority of these games arent amiga games, but rather games that had amiga versions. There's probably only half a dozen at most of these games that Id call "amiga games".

As for Defender Of The Crown, surely theyd use the remastered (enhanced gfx and sounds, tweaked gameplay) versions that where released about 5 years ago rather than the amiga version in an emulator? (as alluded to in this thread)

Congratulations! If it's half as good as Nitro it would get my vote. I remember borrowing it from a friend back in 1990 and loved it so much I never gave it back. I have no idea which game I swapped it for, but clearly didn't miss it.

I suspect that this is not an official remake, but the reviews were very positive so far: Wings of Valor / Wings of Fury Retro

Some of these remakes look amazing! Loving the Secret of Monkey Island - already bought the entire collection (new editions) and suprising how much effort they've put into remastering the original! North and South also looks good - I'm sure this will grabbed by someone in particular (AmigaOnline :P)

Not straight ports, but very interesting:

GENESIA for iPad - The 7 gems of NEORT
("This new version of GENESIA is inspired from the game of the same name I created twenty years ago on Amiga 500.")
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/genes...455692368?mt=8

Pocket Tanks by Michael Welch of Scorched Tanks fame
("My name is Michael P. Welch, and I have been writing artillery games since 1993. ")

I had Pocket Tanks for Windows and I think it was excellent game but not addictive like Worms.

Usually, but not necessarily. I've worked hard to get my upcoming iPad port of Super Foul Egg working nicely with the touch screen. It uses gestures rather than an on-screen joystick. I'm not as fast with the touch screen as I am with the keyboard on the Mac version, but it feels satisfyingly immediate to be able to drag the eggs around with a finger and downwards-swipe to drop them.

If the developers of the remakes were any good they'd have added iCade support, too.
