A500 games on A1200

Could A500 games run better on A1200 (actual or WinUAEd)?
When they run, obviously.

In some cases, yes.
Flight simulators / vector games / emulators can run smoother, for example.
Generally speaking, those games which can benefit from a faster CPU will run better (smoother).

This is not true in all cases, of course. Some games will be too fast?

Well, I was thinking about games like Rainbow Islands, Parasol Stars, Rodland, Lotus I & II... Not about Indy 500 or Hard Drivin', to be clear.
So should 2D games released before A1200 work in the same way (if not in the *right* way)?

In what way do you mean "run better"? How would Rainbows Islands, Rodland etc etc run better? Do you mean AGA colours, if so then no.. If you mean speed then they would run too fast!

Having said that eye of the beholder 1&2 was redone, to take advantage of AGA colour limit by using the VGA graphics from the PC versions (also a automap was included), but this was done by a fan!

Yes, it's true.
My examples are wrong because they are pre-A1200... But think about SWOS 96-97: it's a OCS/ECS game (maybe it needs 1 MB, I don't remember), but if you run it on A1200 you have something more.

Like extra sound.. Which takes advantage of memory above 1mb, like hired guns for example which has extra sounds and loads more graphics into memory which of course means fasting loading times, however if you had an A500 with 2mb it would be the same... I don't recall any A500 games that are better on A1200 apart from games that use 3D, mainly down to the increased CPU speed.. I am not sure how swos is better, but I am guessing it's just down to more memory...?

There are some yes, and not necessary 3d ones. For example, "quick the thunder rabbit" is more more more beautifull on a A1200, with so much extra copper bars and several parallax layers too . Skidmarks 2.2 us really better too, with a hi-res resolution on a standard A1200 that is not avaible on an extented A500 with 512 of slow ram. And there are many more, if i remember some titles i will write the names here.

Last minute add :
Lamborghini american challenge, playable on A1200 in 2 players mode (slow on a standard A500).

With SWOS on AGA machines you get these extra features over A500/A600 machines:

Press space bar to record last few seconds of play.
Press H to watch match highlights at the end of the game.
Ability to watch Highlights from the last game in the main menu.
Option of automatically saving goals as match highlights.
Pressing F8 allows you to toggle the players name (in possession of the ball) on and off and to rotate it around the screen.

These 'features' are only available on AGA machines according to the manual.
