Slight problem with A1200 floppy drive

I have an annoying problem with the floppy drive on my A1200. It reads floppies ok and will boot with a floppy. What it wont do is refresh itself when a new floppy is inserted. There's no clicking as the drive searches for the new disk. At first I thought the machine was running something like "no click" but I can't find any references to a no clicking problem in the user startup or any other startup. I can get the drive to refresh by using Superduper and getting it to check the disk, this kickstarts the floppy drive. Anyone any ideas?

It sounds like you need to clean the small micro switches that sense a disk change.

A bit of Isoproyl on them normally does the trick.

Could also be an Amiga Tech board / Drive problem.

you could try switch cleaner(aerosol) on the switch at the front of the drive,a can of this shouldent put you back more than 4 pounds.

Ok problem resolved, it was the switches at the front of the drive, I've cleaned it with contact cleaner and got it working partially, though occasionally it still sticks. I've ordered a working 2nd hand drive on ebay and will swap it as soon as I can.
Thanks for your help guys.

Try WD40, it works wonders on switches. Apply to switch and keep push switch to make it sink.
You will never have a problem again. Fixed thousands of switches this way, never had one go faulty after using WD40.
