Beta 22 doesn't work. It tries to load a game and after a few seconds it goes back into the game list. btw: How do you impletented the tooltype scanner? An auto-scan of the game icon entries?

For the 2nd Level Scanner and both of todays betas: I have problems to create a database on my real A1200. The scanner starts and freezes, after 15-20 seconds Tiny Launcher quits to the desktop. I use A-Z folder in the root of a partition, and set the path to "DH1:" Strange, a small test in WinUAE (but only with a few games/with a few letter folders) worked fine.

I've been having the same issues compiling the database on a real A1200 using 22b18.exe. It sometimes just hangs while scanning, not at the same place (i.e. it gets stuck on a different number), sometimes exits and reloads TL. Have tried with a ACA1231 as well as a straightforward 8Mb ram card. Also, it's much much slower than it used be...

I can scan single folders though, e.g. "DH1:A". Hope its only a small bug.

When it goes back into the main list, it's because it has not detected the tooltypes.
For me, it happens on demos. On KG games it works very fine.

Yes I scan the icons and I check up to 80 tooltypes

I don't know why it fails (on some games/demos), but I have added another check if the tooltypes aren't detected, it launch with the common options.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1566495/Tin...uncher2b23.exe

I'm going to check for the 2nd level crash.
look how it is on my computer, and tell me if you have an idea why it doesn't work for you : [ Show youtube player ]
If you don't have a clue, I will send you a version that is able to report some logs.

Beta 24 still can't scan if i set it to "dh1", it quits to the desktop.

Do i need to move the A-Z folder into another "games" folder? The tootype scans doesn't work too. The games start now (single folder scan e.g "S"), but the extra tooltypes aren't active as it seems.

Edit: Moving A-Z to a "Games" folder doesn't work neither. Strange.

Makes sense, since there is no error message at all. The db file is 0 bytes for the A-Z folders with games. A1200 with ACA1230 & ClassicWB Lite.

Will show you if the TT are detected or not.

For me, all KG games (well I haven't tested all the collection but a lot, and I had 100% of success)

But I don't understand why on all my demos TT aren't detected. I tried to remove the TT add them again, save...but no...I don't have a clue.

Edit: the Db file is 0 bytes because it's not closed.
Edit2: I'm filling a compact flash that I will scan on CF0:

The new beta doesn't show anything about tooltypes, and the games (yes, KG and Retroplay packs) doesn't start anymore, black screen. ARGH!

CheckTooltype only for checking the ToolTypes on black screen you can press a key to restart
You can't launch anything.

Well I have a clue now where the TT problem is coming from

It's because sometimes the path finish with / and sometimes not.

Fortunately I was scanning my games in 2 levels and my demos in 1 level.
So I have a good clue.

for the scan I'm going to investigate too

Thanks guyz, I will keep you updated.

Interesting progress you've made, gibs ! Thanks for your work.

Out of curiosity : in the future, will it be possible to display games by categories (well, folders that define categories) and to optionally "merge" ECS and AGA games ?

I usually play a game depending on the gam etype I feel like playing at a given time, and not according to the chipset used.

Cheers !

I have just scaned 243 games on CF0:/Games/A/ CF0:/Games/B/ (FAT32)
In fact I have scanned the KG collection until Beneath a steal sky.
I had no crash.

How many games do you have ?
Your crash are on an Amiga FS or a directory hosted on Windows/Linux/OSX.... ????

@Torturedutopian,
About Merging why not, we will make a poll
for categories, I don't know yet.

Edit: I'm going to post my latest version.

This version works well with tooltypes , and I had no crash (but you will probably have) I'm going to add games.

There's a bug, it will crash on 24 chars name directory (but it's on the list, not on scan. I had this problem in the past, I need to check the old sources)

Edit: I have just scanned ALL "A & B" of the KG's Collection (354 games) on CF0: without crash.
Tooltypes are ok, and games are launching with the latest posted version.
Avoid launching 24 chars directories.

Good luck

PS: Scanning take a while because I check for Slave/EXE/TL

TT scan works fine now, and it is shown on the top. But it can't handle the description for the function, it ignores any other tooltype after that custom tooltype 1.

Haven't checked yet, but some folders could have more than 24 chars per game folder. Let's hope that this is the solution for the problem.

Yeahhh !!
Yes I need to skip TT that start with "(" or ";" and others if you have some in mind.

I think that all the KG's directories are 24 chars lenght.
When you do a "dir" on the CLI it only report 24 chars, the same when you use the menu "information".
names can be longer, but actually, I have no possibilities to go beyond.

No, some are even longer, e.g. AlienBreedTowerAssaultAGA
