@gibs: unfortunetly I can not do this under WinUAE. I downloaded version 2.0. I tried many times and I do not know what is wrong. I hold up arrow (as keyboard B layout in Input options) and nothing happend ;/ Maybe this work only on real Amiga, but this is strange anyway because it should work under WinUAE too. And welcome back. I hope you can find some time to improve new version of your great launcher.

I started using Tiny Launcher a while back but the RAD device never worked for me unfortunately. It would just reset and black screen.

Welcome back gibs

Welcome back gibs

Hi Gibs

I've been trying out your TinyLauncher while you've been gone, and it works pretty well and quite fast. I have found a couple of bugs though and have a couple of suggestions to make it even better. I even tracked down the problem and found a workaround to one of them, but it takes a lot of work to do manually. I estimate that you can probably fix it in your code in 5 minutes

But... Two things.
1) Are you going to be working on TinyLauncher again?
2) If yes, would you like bug reports in this thread, in private messages or email?

Hi there,What a great tiny launcher you have made there..
It work prefect on my A1200 2mb BTW..
I was wondering will you be adding pictures to the games or would that be to hard and use to much memory..??

One more thing thanks for making it,I use it all the time now..

I have add it to my site BTW if thats ok..
I will be uploading a version of it with the iGame icons cos it didn't have any..

It works ok on my WinUAE, I use numberpad + 0 or 5 for fire layout.

Gibs,
Thanks a lot. You are making many guys happy continuing development.

btw how would an A600 with 1mb chip and 4mb fast do with this application? Or is 2mb chip a requirement?

Once I found the best way to do it.

@Magnetic
Each whdload games have a similar documentation with the RAM needed.

Tito did a great database to filter RAM requirement for whdload games :
http://www.amigang.fr/whdload-memory-usage.html
(I put this link on the 1st post of this thread)

I have created a preconfigured environment to use TinyLauncher and a tutorial to create your CD compilation. You can download it on the first post of this thread.
If it is incomplete don't hesitate to report.

Gibs

Thanks alot man. I'll try to make it happen when I have time. Very exciting. It looks like many games run with 2mb or less... I have a couple of other quesions if you dont mind.

1. Can I make a cdtv cd that runs on 1.3 stock CDTV roms or do you need 3.1 installed?

2. "use the tool "ISOCD"" Is this an amiga application and where to get it please?

Im so excited to use the CDTV for a Demo/Games box for guests and user group guys!

Thank you btw I love the stlye of the retro gfx and sounds very nice!

Yes you can, but not a whdload compilation. I mean TL can launch executable files. So you can do a compilation of non-trackdisk stuff.

The kickstart 3.X is needed to use the RAD functionality.
With the RAD activated, when you launch a game, the Amiga is RESET and then it load the game while TL is not in memory anymore. Basically it means that you have all your memory available for your game. Like if you enter the early-startup and load from the CLI.
Look at this video : [ Show youtube player ]

Therefore it is better to add some FastRAM, so when you exit from a Demo or a Game, Tiny Launcher is still in memory, like in this video : [ Show youtube player ]
For information my CDTV owns 2MB of FastRAm.

ISOCD is a small Amiga 68k utility and is a part of the CD32 Devkit. (I have completed the 1st page).

What size is the RAD device TinyLauncher creates?

Here are my settings:

Device = ramdrive.device
Unit = 0
Flags = 0
Surfaces = 2
BlocksPerTrack = 3
Reserved = 1
Interleave = 0
LowCyl = 0
HighCyl = 1
Buffers = 1
BufMemType = 1
Priority = 99

You can probably make it smaller but I have a couple of small files that go in mine.

Welcome back Gibs!

So, did anyone make a good CD32 compilation so far?

Dose the RAD give you more memory to CD32 and AGA games so they run,I ask cos I only have a A1200 with Chip 2mb and Fast 2MB (PCMICA Card)..??

yes me

@spannernick
yes, it's like if you launch your games/demos from the CLI (without startup-sequence) right after the early-startup.

I have created a preconfigured package : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1566495/Temp/TLPreconf.zip

Unzip it and:
Copy your kickstart files in Devs/Kickstarts/
Copy your whdload key in S/
Copy your games & demos in TLDATAS/ in the appropriate directories.

Boot it with WinUAE!
Under TinyLauncher:
Update the database with F1 (for each directories you have modified the content)
Test it under WinUAE.
Turn TinyLauncher "Boot:CD" by pressing 'B' (Check the infodesk for its status).

Once it's ok, you can remove the Setpatch line in S/Startup-sequence
Also remove the files under Libs/

You need to use the Amiga 68k software "ISOCD" to create your iso image, and inject the CD32.TM or CDTV.TM file.

Once you have created your iso, you can use the Software of your choice on your PC to burn your CD.
I'm having some trouble making a compilation, following the steps above..

Booting WinUAE from the TLPreconf directory, I have recreated the databases, TL says Boot:CD, and both ECS and AGA games are working.
In ISOCD I selected source and destination, added Volume ID and CD32.TM under options, then clicked 'Examine' and finally 'Build'.
When running the ISO under WinUAE (v2410, CD32 quickstart), TL starts, but when launching games it says Loading 'game' and then returns to TL. (immediate return, no reboot)

Your included startup-sequence has 'cd dh0:' in it, and the TL config points to 'Amiga:'.
But I tried both volume ID 'DH0' with TL paths DH0:TLDATAS... and volume ID 'Amiga' with 'cd Amiga:' in startup-sequence, so this should not be related.

Any ideas?

By the way, there is a CD32 optimized version of WHDLoad that leaves more memory and doesn't require a key.
There are also some CD32 memory optimization tips. Have a look at whdload.de.
(I didn't use any of these now. just following your instructions...)
