Awesome, thanks in advance Galahad, you're a legend mate!

@ Stunts - thanks for Sierra Soccer, one of my favourite football games alongside the Sensi series and Goal!

I think synchro summed it up, it was 'crafty'. I'd never written any kind of security for a game previously and then moved onto consoles and handhelds which obviously had their own systems built in.

That doesn't mean that the protection is any good (it is, as said, nothing special at all), back in the day it was all about speed which resulted in some half/non-working cracks.
Your right...it was simple but effective enough to be missed for 15 odd years
Any game that crashes now every now and again using winuae we would probably put down to an emulation problem.....Would it ever have been noticed if someone had not asked about it and stunts hadnt responded

But your absolutly right...speed was the thing back then and loads probably got missed...It may be worth checking out any classic games with a similar symptoms in the future

TCD sent me some random data that just coincidentally exactly matches the images of Sierra Soccer, its obviously about a gabillion to 1 that he could do it, but hey, he's amazing!

Random man, totally random.

Playtesting it now, copy protection...... oh dear

It was long ago cracked, unfortunately its the buggiest piece of software I have ever had the misfortune to observe.

I wouldn't argue with me about this, you've never been very adept at winning any debate we've had

Chin up though eh?

Yes, this game can be buggy, but can be also bad cracked too.
Put original binary image online, if this game was really cracked. Or create IPF version for tests. Do you played this game from original disk(s)?

Its buggy no matter what.

Its not badly cracked at all, it is a simple MFM format with different syncs for different loaded parts.

It reacted the same with the original disk as the crack, at the moment its virtually unviewable (I can't use the word playable as there is no discernable game).

Please refrain from using comments like "if this game was really cracked", your attempts to undermine my considerable experience in this field is laughable.

And it's rather off-topic in this thread.

I thinked that can be outro/end file or something similar.

BTW. Do you have all Amiga mods for Sierra Soccer, I thinked about "soccer2" and "soccer3" files? Perhaps only two mods are used into the Amiga version:

If memory serves me right, mod.soccer2 can be found in the intro data, it's crypted though. I'll check when I'm back home.
