Smile What do you guys think about the SPRINTER ?

http://www.petersplus.com/sprinter/

I think itīs really kewl, having a PLD (Programmable Logic Device) in such a machine to change their usage without changing hardware There are also plans to use the SPRINTER as MSX Computer and thatīs only the beginning ! Using HDīs, CDīs, everything is possible and it only got an 8-bit CPU equipped with Soundcard etc.

I really think I will buy one in the near future

Wow if it could really change like that it would be great for both emulation computer, but also if you just happen to be in the hardware design industry. No more having to iron out bugs by the trial and error method.

This is the souped-up Speccy project I was taling about in teh Amiga Development thread... Isn't it great?
\

By the way, the Commodore One has a similar approach to some of its functions. There is a chip that loads up teh set of registers it needs to use. Since it has the souped up 6502, it might be possible to turn it into an Apple IIGS clone, for example.

Let's keep in mind thsi Sprinter machne would only be allowed to mimic other Z80 machines, I presume. Not like it can suddenly become a Commodore 64 :P

In russia theres still some kind of active demoscene for spectrum I think
They have contact with other speccy groups over a special BBS system according to some site.

I was interested in the sprinter last summer. But realized that I would not use it that much really, so it would have been a waste of money

true But remember all those great Z80 machines like Amstrad, MSX, Spectrum and others Itīs more like a Hardware-Emulator but when changed the PLD to the proper settings you got that hardware you want I love that little beast

Of course, I just thought about clarifying it
As I said, the C=1 would be able to do the same, IN THEORY. you just have to flash a different set of registers to that PLD (or whatever it's called) chip.

There are 2 brazilian guys working in something like that for some time now, to recreate the MSX in a programmable single chip.

I think it's one of those PLD things they are working. I've already seen it running sound correctly, but no video yet.
