Hacked Workbench Disks... Is Possible?

I think that some files on the Workbench disk images that I have are hacked. My ones are from TOSEC and the (free?) distribution of AMIGA Forever that is found in torrent form.

Is possible that they are "hacked", so to not work as expected? Like, to prohibit the complete use of it without us to pay for it? Somebody had a similar issue with these "distributions", or at least, do you think that you had (like my situation now)?

There is no such thing like a "free distribution of Amiga Forever" and TOSEC copies are illegal, either. So yes, it's well possible that these files were hacked.

There is a very rudimentary (KS/WB1.3 only) "value edition" that you can get for signing up some ad program. Besides this Amiga Forever came bundled with a magazine once. Maybe that is where Leandro got the idea from.

You are quite correct!

"Amiga Forever Version 6.0 Limited Edition, including games, demos and ROM files plus full documentation" was given away free with Retro Gamer magazine, Volume 2, Issue 1.

At the time, this was claimed to be a "World exclusive. The only legal Amiga emulator. Worth $19.95".

And, as you have noted, AF 6.0 LE features the Kickstart 1.3/Workbench 1.3 environment only.

It has also been published by the German PcMagazin (which is different to the English magazine of the same name). Binaries were WB1.3 and KS1.3/3.1.

I have uploaded to The Zone an eBook of Retro Gamer Magazine Issue 13 (Vol.2 No.1), which featured the Amiga Forever 6.0 LE cover CD-ROM.

The Amiga Forever emulation features included on the CD-ROM are briefly described on page 108.

My desire was to buy a legitimate copy of Amiga Forever, the Premium Edition, but I discovered a time ago that to pay it from my country is necessary to have a bank account, unfortunately I lost my one time ago and for a time would not be possible for me to get another account.

Never mind...

I had all the money to buy it, but then, because was impossible, I changed my mind and bought another "Premium Edition" thing: the Windows 7 Home Premium...

The end of the story: I am not very disappointed, Windows 7 is much better than the Vista Home Basic that I have. But even so, I would like to have a legitimate Amiga system, preferably a true Amiga computer like I had in the 90 decade.

Welcome, mate.

Another Brazilian here.

You can pay for Cloanto's Amiga Forever using Paypal: it takes the money from your credit card directly in Reais and convert it to Euro for the vendor.

Now they even don't care about if your credit card is a Brazil-only one.
