That is strange musojon74 that you are getting low frame rates. Have you anything running in the background? On the 060 CS MkIII it flies, my goodness does it fly!
Well it's got classibwb advsp on it so scalos and a few other bits. Can't remember if I did the right click "safe mode" with normal workbench to test - will try this eve...cheers

I don't believe this. So people thought our pathetic solar system was the only system with planets in orbit around a sun in the entire universe! Haha. There is no way that is true! I think you're telling us big fat porkys Kev! Star Wars, Star Trek etc was full of extra-terrestrial planets.

The first confirmed detection was in 1992, with the discovery of several terrestrial-mass planets orbiting the pulsar PSR B1257+12

The first published, confirmed discovery was made in 1988 by the Canadian astronomers Bruce Campbell, G. A. H. Walker, and S. Yang.[24] Although they were cautious about claiming a planetary detection, their radial-velocity observations suggested that a planet orbited the star Gamma Cephei

In the eighteenth century the same possibility was mentioned by Isaac Newton in the "General Scholium" that concludes his Principia. Making a comparison to the Sun's planets, he wrote "And if the fixed stars are the centers of similar systems, they will all be constructed according to a similar design and subject to the dominion of One

You need to check you have the right libs for your 060 and all the caches are turned on. I don't know anymore having not owned one, but the ClassicWB doesn't install CPU specific support and is aimed at 020 and 030 Amiga's by default.

It's a case of doing the research and adding the relevant stuff for your hardware.

Cheers Bloodwych. Yeah all set up for ages now, libs all correct. Plays Doom and Quake very nicely (well ok quake isn't really very nice but it's still rather cool to have on Amiga) and also the Descent stuff etc. That Frontier is the only thing which slows down on my miggy.

musojon74, should have known anyone with an 060 would know how to use it to its fullest! Must be some specific issue with this game then as you said.

Why pathetic? We are the race who invented Amigas after all!

BTW Frontier on a 040/25 flies! On a 060 I can only imagine....

ahhh hhhaa, in a parallel universe the Amiga won the computer war, indeed later generations created worm holes using an Amiga A4,000,000.... bizarrely the whole program ran from a DSDD floppy

Haha cheers - and the advice could well have been welcome. When I first got it and had the libs setup wrong I got the very fun reset - when you double click anything to start disk access such as a proggy or a drive icon - BANG! That upset me when I first got it! :-0 I will have a nose tonight - going to try that new AB3d11..

Nice one! Too bad it's unsupported by the latest WHDLoad slave.

a known bug...

Amiga CD32 version, 1994

This version of the game is totally debugged with regards to bugs from previous versions. Even the Bribe Bug has been rectified (thanks to Paul for noticing this). There's also no password protection on this version, and apparently it can be copied over to a floppy disk and played on a normal 'real' Amiga for the ultimate Frontier: Elite 2 experience. This version also features the Navigation Computer, an item sold in FFE that allows easier plotting of courses within star systems. According to Stuart Wilson, the CD32 version has a unique bug (the 'CD32 joypad/mouse bug'), whereby the front lasers will fire intermittently when using the mouse. It also has another new bug (the aptly-named 'Flying Instructor' bug, discovered by Paul Roberts) whereby the ship's computers will dutifully attain approximately 50% of your set speed, whether it's high or low, and whether you're flying in space or in an atmosphere.

is there anyone able to fix so i can update the disk?

This was a most annoying bug with the CD32 version. I bet it would be easy to fix with a hex editor if you knew the right address and what values to replace. If it was fixed, it would make this the ultimate version of Frontier. I am going to ask around and see if I can find out anything.

Just had a thought though, are the CD32 version and standard floppy disk versions so different? I was thinking it might be possible to compare the game's code side by side and try to track down this bug, but perhaps with all the added content the CD32 version has, this wouldn't help

i am no coder, but i would guess that comparing and understanding whatever the difference is in the code is certainly possible, EAB has some great coders as members maybe they could take a look?

Good idea, btw

It's the "understanding" part that is difficult. I could open up a hex editor but to be honest I would be lost.

However, I have put out an appeal (with links back to this thread) on the Frontier Forum (yes I know, a looooooooooooong shot that perhaps David Braben himself might see it but there are a few die hard Frontier fans on there too), Amibay (lots of very smart people there as you will all know) and Space Sim Central (lots of space sim loving coders turn up there from time to time). So I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best

Dosn't like a real 68060 at all, booted from floppy Gurus, loads up fine if card disabled, but a bit on the slow side, probably due to me not being use to 680ec20 speeds

Hmm weird with WHDload Frontier Elite 2 cd32 version it seems to be ok on my blizz. But i've only ran the intro and stuff.
