Nice idea, gulliver. Thank you for getting in contact with him.
I've just been running into his 32 bit icon editor this morning and thought that could be a very useful replacement for the sooo buggy OS 3.9 icon edit. I looked into the lha, but unfortunately, couldn't see any OS 3.9 version or source code included. Even better to know now that there is still a good chance to get it. Thanks a lot.

No sorry, I think it's not Bernd's RAWBInfo patch to blame. It's no 'JUNK' in his code. (code removed)

The 'JUNK' was already in the OS 3.9 and OS 4.0 icon as the 'default tool' string. But this string is not visible as long as the icon type is set to 'tool'. When you convert it to PNG then - and only then - my library sets the type to 'project' if it finds a 'default tool' string in a PNG icon, even it it was a 'tool' before. You can always remove the 'default tool' string and change the type with WB:icon->info or with icon edit manually.

The icon.library 46.4.203... this posting has been updazed again....
The problems with the 'disk.info' files and the 'JUNK' project should be fixed now. Although, all other 'default tools' will still force a 'project' icon.

Thanks for your continuous work PeterK mate!

I'm attaching some examples of the new Icon.library (46.4.200) tested under:
- A1200 and 256 color palette
- A600 and normal 16 color palette
- A600 and Rebel's 16 color palette

Awesome stuff as always

Thank you mfilos !

The biggest problem were icon sets like GlowRevolution3 from LorraineDesign: http://aminet.net/package/pix/picon/GlowRevolution3

These icons really need the alpha channel data to look correct.

I didn't know about these icons lol

Made one more test with these on:
- A1200 and 256 colors
- A600 and 16 colors using Rebel's palette.

Cheers my friend.

Sorry, but 46.4.200+ could crash under some configurations. If this happens then please use 46.4.199 until this problem has been fixed.

I decided to remove 46.4.201 again, because it did not work as expected. One reason for the crashes were stack overflows on my WinUAE system. I had to increase the stacksize in my startup-sequence from 'MinStack 10000' to at least 'MinStack 12000' to get rid of some of the crashes. But another reason was a conflict with the 'Devs:datatypes/amigaiconobject'. And finally, I'm not sure anymore if the iconobject system from Scalos really works on AGA screens at all, because I don't have a real Amiga for testing that and on WinUAE it works only when booting into TrueColor first and then switching back down to an AGA screen, but not after booting directly into AGA. So, I'll have to look for a better solution again.

Thanks a lot for testing every new version, mfilos !!

But unfortunately, it seems that the iconobject.lbrary can cause crashes under some WinUAE configurations. Sorry, I regret that I didn't test 46.4.200+ with the more recent WinUAE versions and with the AGA settings before uploading it to EAB. Atm, I still couldn't find a stable setting for the WinUAE screenmodes. Thus, I think it's better to add 46.4.199 as an alternative version to my previous posting again. See above, until this issue is fixed.

PeterK mate, I tested the new version for some minutes and didn't have any weird issues under WinUAE (either in ECS or AGA environment). Icons displayed just fine and no crashes at all under my configuration. (ClassicWB 3.9 with custom ROM).
The only issues I get from time to time are some weird image/sprite distortion after some heavy file activities (copying/deleting etc under DOpus) but I'm sure that this is due to Cosmos new Graphics.library despite your new Icon.library.

I love trying new stuff that boost our miggies even further
Keep up the excellent work my friend! \o/

Peter mate, after putting the new version (46.4.201) on the real Amiga HD I saw that the Work partition's icon didn't display correct (was displayed as stock 3.1's HD installation icon).
Even when I decided to re-copy the Disk.info over, the icon never appeared correctly.
Getting back on the 46.4.199 version seemed to fix the issue.

I'm attaching a screenshot of both 46.4.199 and 46.4.201 on workbench screen.

Ok, I've removed 46.4.201 already. See post 67 above. My efforts using the iconobject.library were obviously leading into a dead-end road.

Update: icon.library 46.4.202 attached. Same as 199, but with the 'disk.info'-fix and the 'JUNK' default tool bypass for project icons like it was in 200 already.

@mfilos
Could you please check if your harddisk icon appears correctly or if you get the same issue as you explained in your post above ?

Icon.library 46.4.203: now with alphachannel again, but PNG icons are a little bit slow, because additonally they need the pngalpha.library installed in LIBS: to create a better looking transparent background. http://aminet.net/search?query=pngalpha

Icon.library .202 works fine but .203 causes several of my WBStartup programs to guru (one time so bad that WinUAE crashed). Disabled WBStartup and started each program manually and everything ran fine....

Thanks for your continued work on this.

Hmm ??
I'm very surprised now, how that could come suddenly ??

James, do you have anything to increase the stacksize in your startup-secence installed, like 'MinStack 20000', for example. If not, please try that. A simple 'stack' instruction from AmigaDos won't do it.

Can you tell me some of the crashing WbStartup programs ? I don't have any crashes. Is the pngalpha.library in LIBS: ?

Anybody else having similar problems ?

Yes I'm using StackAttack and have the pngalpha.library installed.
The crashing programs are quite common - AsyncWB, Ghostbuster, LimpidClock, MagicMenu and a few others, but it is inconsistent. I am using WBstartup++ so figured this may be the cause of the problem. Tried removing it, but now Workbench is giving me constant "no font available" recoverable gurus.

Just played a bit with AmiKit 1.59 and tried WB, DOpus and Scalos.
The biggest problem was switching the environment with Morpheus to Scalos. It had a lot of freezes during boot-up until I increased the stacksize with 'StackAttack 70000' to be on the safe side. You can alternatively try to rename LIBS: pngalpha.library to see if that causes the trouble. At least, with pngalpha.library installed the system needs more stack as without to work successfully. But finally, all three environments worked together with the pngalpha.library, no crashes here.

My friend PeterK, just tried the 46.4.203 version which works fine.
Only side-effect is once more the wrong "Work" icon that I posted you on #71 post.
Reverting to the 46.4.199 version and the icon goes back to normal. (Dunno why's happening).
The "Work" icon i'm using is the default icon of Work partition that AmigaForever has. If you want, I can send it to you to check it out yourself as well.

Thanks again for your continuous work mate.

With Stack increased it booted fine first time, but still had problems after a reset. Will investigate further....
