I just recently did a switchless mod for a friend using a mod found from http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/se...n-ultimate.htm and its great. Makes life easier if you want to import games and doesn't mess with the outside of the case. And as for games I must recomend Keios Flying Squadron 2.

The original Quake couldn't be done on the PS1 (according to ID Software) but it made it on the Saturn... The 2D capabilities were much better on the Saturn (as most people can testify), it's my favourite console for fighters alongside the Neo Geo. The PS1 also had issues with perspective correction (take a look at the PS1 version of Exhumed for example).

Be aware of cdrom's state. Buying an old CD based console seems risky purchase to me (remember my D.O.A. psx, near death experience of dreamcast and cd32). You can imagine what happens to laser after all these years, especially when it comes to Saturn Mk I that was heavily exploited with swap trick. Therefore model 2 might be a better option. Good luck anyway, Saturn is one of the kind.

The Saturn cd-drive is top quality. Never seen a broken one so far.

its worth modding the saturn with the 50/60hz/region mod just to play street fighter alpha 3 alone!

Yeah many of the Jap imports are cheaper than the EU/US counterparts. However just watch for sellers charging inflated prices for them. If your doing an ebay search then do a worldwide search and see what they are going at. I picked up Slayers for next to nothing from Japan.
