How's the progress?

(I hope that I don't put you off doing iUAE, but you can play Frontier on iPad using DOSPad (DOSBox port) - http://toucharcade.com/wp-content/up.../10/photon.png )

There has been less time for me to work on this atm, since my job has been keeping at work late, there is some progress, I shall try to get a real video out soon.

I actually looked at that, and I think it ran better under uae, it felt sluggish. I always prefered the ami versions sounds

Hi Vairn,
can't wait for your iUAE to be released :-)

Was wondering if by any chance you're planning to support the iCADE Arcade Cabinet for iPad as well:

It would be a dream come true!

Cheers,

Unlikely. Emulators which load external data are banned from the App Store. They have to come pre-built and have a license for the game.

What would stop it from running on a jailbroken iPhone?

So why would it be unlikely to see anything new? He has already stated that it will be added to cydia "soon".

RL strikes again, soo many 1st birthday parties and other commitments, been busy. So nowhere near as much progress as I would like.
With a 14 month old, free time is hard to come by.
Remember this is amiga world "soon" :P

Joypad, a free joypad controller app fir the iphone, released an api, so I added it to uae, just for fun.

Little video, of superfrog, and me.

I notice you had to look down quite a few times to make sure you were pressing the right buttons.

Looking forward to trying the amiga emulator on a 3GS. Perhaps on Thursday night?

I can't wait

Speaking about controls. I think that it's not a matter of tactile buttons. There are many "jump&run" games on the App Store that provide convinient and responsive controls - though they don't use D-Pad button layout, but something like this:

("diagonals" require touching "left" or "right" along with "up")

Examples (linking to Lite version, where available):
- Pizza Boy - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pizza...389318128?mt=8
- Soosiz - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/soosi...339436013?mt=8
- League of Evil - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/leagu...412165223?mt=8

In contrary, "D-Pad" button layout often renders the game unplayable.

I'm sure that this is applicable to iUAE (especially that Amiga joyticks have only 1 "fire" button) as long as "customizable" controls can be provided. Even 8-directional movement can be easily (IMO) set up this way (Chaos engine - "left", "right", "fire", "up", "down" buttons placed on the same X axis at the bottom of the screen, or even something like this: http://itunes.apple.com/pl/app/the-i...338035197?mt=8 ).

@galu, hmm did think of that, I stall steal that idea then, I was going to offer fully customisable controls but having that as default preset, would work well.

I shall make a new video tonight, if I get some free time.
