Post BatMan remake released

Hi all.

Even though Jon Ritmans BatMan was never on Amiga (Head over Heels was though) I thought I would mention that I released my remake of it here :

http://retrospec.sgn.net/game/batman

Enjoy !

Looks nice and sounds good. I tried redefining the controls to my pad and the menu detected them for up/down/left/right etc. But Batman couldn't be controlled.

I then redefined them back to the cursor keys with z jump x carry and c jump+carry. Started the game and although the cursors worked, z, x and c did nothing.

Hmm, you sure you picked up the Bag (to carry things in) and the Boots (to jump) ?

It is strange that the pad controls didn't work though... will investigage.

Edit: Yep, for some reason joystick controls don't work. Will try finding why and fixing it ASAP.

Hi,
One of my favorite Spectrum game, I'm under OSX, does any version is planned for this OS?
If not, if its SDL, OpenGL C/C++ I could make a build for MAC.

(oops, forgot you had to get the bag and boots!)

Joypad is working fine now. One slight annoyance is when it shows the parts of the batmobile and the music is playing you have to press return to continue, jump on the pad wont do it even though it selects all the menu options.

Cheers for a speedy fix though!

The game uses allegro4.1 . Will try getting in contact with Angelo who did the HoH MacOSX port, if that doesnt work out then we can talk ;-) Thanx for the offer !

That's good news, HoH is great under OSX.
How does Allegro compare to SDL these days, version 5 is not yet done AFAIK. I hope that's its getting better.
There's also a port of Allegro for OS4.

Didn't check SDL in a while now, but I would say SDL would be a more appropriate way to go these days... I am just used to allegro so I stuck with it and HoH engine was written in that and tested a lot. If I would have to start over today then I would almost surely go with SDL.

This looks really nice and I'll definitely be giving it a go later today. I never played the original, but I loves a bit of isometric

Good work!

Anyone remember the original BatMan remake from eons ago? WatMan, it was remarkably called.

It's still available here for those interested.

Will give this new effort a workout also!
