I realised over the weekend that I didn't have any reviews in the 0-9 section, so I fluffed it a bit and did a 10 Yard Fight review. I know it could be classed as Ten but bleh :

Some nice updates. That website will be a great archive for future generations too.

Battle Kid looks great. I recently repaired our old NES, wouldn't mind picking up a copy if it's not too expensive.

Bit off topic but I've always wondered what happens to websites like mine when the creator pegs it. Can anyone just take them over? Seem a shame for it to just vanish one day.

And Hewitson just make sure you have a spare NES controller. Its pad throwing difficult at times!

Good question Lorfarius; I guess it's down to you to archive and pass on the site to someone else, although there are websites that allow you to look at old sites on the web as they were back in the day:

http://www.archive.org/web/web.php

So I'd imagine yours could be archived there too!

I started playing NES games very recently (about 2 months). Never had played this console till now. I can just say I changed 180º my opinion on the NES. It has great games with solid gameplay and quality. You know those people that say they don't like cheese but don't even tried it?

Batman - Return of the Joker is a graphic masterpiece can even rival somewhat with 16 bit games. Al Unser Jr Turbo Racing is great fun and very addictive one of the best 8 bit racing games I came to play so far. Finding Super Mario Bros 3 identical (bar the obvious hardware differences) to the SNES version was quite a surprise. 1943 is arcade identical in the gameplay.

I understand why it was so popular and very rightly so.

Lorfarious your site is a great resource for the NES and I like the layout and content. Keep up the good work.

Been working like crazy on the mag this past month and its release is drawing near! Had a look at Castlevania 2 this week, not letting the site fall idle!

Couple of page samples to show off what we have done so far things are really moving fast now. A lot of people have worked hard on this and it's really coming along nicely so I would rather the work speak for itself::

In case anyone is worried there's a good mix of PAL and US stuff, even mention of the GameBoy in a NES standoff. Tried to cover as much as possible for a first issue and think there's enough for all to enjoy!

Not sure if you will want to mention it in the article and perhaps you already know that but the Bomb Sweeper NES homebrew is a port/remake of a Game & Watch game.

I remember having tried this homebrew but I can't remember if there were the special stages with automatic scrolling you had to do after 10 normal stages. So I cannot guarantee if it qualifies 100% for the title of remake.

Might need to try it again then to check that .

I know a few of you have been looking forward to this but Issue 2 has finally been announced:

For those thinking the text in the left column is the articles... not this time. Just easy place holders to fill the space!

So far the team have started on several articles and some highlights include:

Religion in NES games
Castlevania (Cover) Special - A look at the NES series and some of its unique stand out points
Big Dan's Cheat Section makes a return
A look at some of the NES's Shooters
8bit wars - Classic systems go head to head
Zelda Special
Japanese Import Special
And much, much more

It will be available as a PDF like the last issue with some printed copies being available at a later date eventually as well.

Suggestions for articles are always welcome.

What can you do to help? We are open to new writers and hope even more people will get involved. So drop me a line or stop by the site.
