New here

Hey guys I am very new to the Amiga scene and not too familiar with the platforms themselves though I am very interested in retro games as a whole.

I am currently in the planning stages of my FYP at my university which involves researching into narrative and nostalgia in retro games and looking into how they influence today’s industry. My Tutor (Pubzombie on these boards) has highly recommended these boards as a point of research and from my small post a couple of weeks ago I can see why he recommends you guys so much.

I hope you all will be able to help me with my research in the future as I progress with my work

Thanks

Its quite a simple equation.

Amiga = retro cool

Everything else = retro fool

There, thats your FYP done and sorted, now you can sit back and watch demos, cracktros, play Amiga classics and wish you were older to have appreciated it first time around.

Happy to Help, I feel you're going to get top marks!

Hi Lankey, and welcome to EAB!

You're privileged to be tutored by Pubzombie, and it's good to hear news of him.

Good luck with your research! You've come to one of the best places for help with that.

a good starting point for the Amiga is... http://www.amigahistory.co.uk/ahistory.html

Amiga sceners are a fairly dedicated lot.... due to the Amiga possibly above any other machine it has such a varied capability, Gaming, Programming, Art and Sound, an Underground scene (cracking and to a point the demoscene), Business and was towards the end the Underdog (all us wanted a proper Doom game) and probably so much more

it could always be that many of us were teenagers at the time and before girls, comes gaming (lol)

welcome to the board

Boy has Uni changed since I was there. I still remember installing UAE on one of the Silicon Graphics Stations and been quite disapointed with the result. Have fun here and good luck with the course.

Never noticed any big pens in the octagon building and the boy to girl ratio is still pretty bad about 14:1 now last I heard.

I will tell pubzombie to come on again next chance I get

Greetings Lankey,
These are a great bunch of guys here and i hope you stay around after your project.
Thanks all for welcoming him aboard.
I am working hard to influence the next gen of game designers that there is a lot to learn from the miggy years. There was so much innovation that todays devs could do with knowing about. Here is one of the few places that is actually acting like a historic archive for the golden years of game dev.
