Sigh! Too slooow for my netbook!!!

The latest version of WinUAE fixes many bugs but it is too slow. I tried "Midnight Resistance" and, in the room of weapons, everything slows down, the sound becomes scratchy. Sigh! Why do you use the approach of mame? The mame is lame! Please, put more hacks to speed up emulation!

Buy a new PC. Use older version. Or if you aren't just complaining, perhaps you should give (much) more information..

You are a developer? Thank attention. Excuse me, what information should I give? I use a netbook with Atom N270@1.60GHz (dual core?) Until the earlier version of the emulation of the Amiga 500 was OK. Why not developed two versions, one for PC desktop and one for netbook?

Attach your configuration file first and statefile which was created when you entered the weapon selection area.

Your CPU should be more than fast enough for non-cycle exact A500 emulation with full speed. Slowdown is probably display/filter or sound related.

Cycle-exact mode is "PC" mode, fast CPUs with big caches required.

you are right

1.6.0 version is still the best winuae and stable version for me
it's fast..stable..compatible and run all games at the perfection
I use it every day and I never found a program or game that fails
Tony should call in his website the 1.6.0 version as the most stable and fastest winuae version

Then use 1.6.0 and stop complaining or tell exactly whats wrong ("does not work", "is slow" are not bug reports). It can't get any simpler.

Note that I'll most likely never play those games that you play and which don't work correctly -> I NEVER KNOW ABOUT THOSE BUGS. My crystal ball isn't that good.

I don't support old versions or I'll get even weirder bug reports that say something like "1.6 does not work with this game and I don't want use newer versions". Ok, right.

<back to regular testing>

Midnight Resistance slowdown was simple side-effect of new audio DMA emulation. Game stupidly plays empty sample with period=1 (=fastest possible playback speed, which equals period check events about 1 million times per second!) and length=1 (countless audio DMA reset events)

http://www.winuae.net/files/b/winuae.zip should fix the slowdown issue (at least partially, can't really confirm it 100%)

Yeah! Now works, great!
I would like to use 1.60, but does not support double-and triple buffers do not support the autofire! If someone could create a modified version of version 1.60 I would be grateful! I thank Toni Wilen to fixed the problem quickly, and I apologize if I did not immediately provided aid to solve the problem, but I thought no one would help me!

Great

Problems always get solved when there is enough information to find the problem.

Backporting part of new features to old versions can (and will) introduce bugs just like introducing new features to new versions. It would be only waste of time for me.

Sources are in that direction -> you can always do it yourself if you have spare free time.
