No problem with that, but you should reconsider that emphasis bit. I hope that you at least agree that Flashback isn't mainly about running and jumping?

My favs...

1) Rodland
2) Turrican 2
3) Pang
4) Price of Persia
5) BC Kid
6) Adams Family
7) Chuck Rock
8) Rainbow Islands
9) Newzeland Story
10) Bubble Bobble

Some are puzzle/arcade games but I consider these all platformers really.

Robocod, Zool and Parasol Stars were also great games.

true! MP is definitely in my top 5 platformers
Baboon mentioned Robocod, I would add James Pond 3 and James Pond 1 (not too much jumping and running in the last one but for me it's a platformer, dont ask me why)

Seeing that you put sotb2 on you top list, you are excused.

All joking aside, how can a game with said elements not be a platform game? Don't give me any crap about the emphasis being on the puzzles or anything, because there's loads of other stuff, and because literally every platform game ever made has something besides the underlying platform structure. I suppose that Brian the Lion isn't a platform game either? I mean, you can punch enemies, like in a beat-em-up, right? Therefore, it isn't a platform game, and anyone who says that it is has missed the point completely.
You can't just say "Don't give me any crap about the emphasis being on the puzzles or anything", because that is an important point. As I've said elsewhere in another thread, a 'true' platform game has it's emphasis on platforming (Mario, Rainbow Islands, NZS). The jumping from platform to platform IS the emphasis and something that gets progressively more difficult through the game. Lots of games that have platforms in them don't do this. To critisise a game for something that was never meant to be it's primary goal is literally missing the point.

Interceptor has shooting elements. Doesn't make it a shmup.

The God's scrolling works perfectly, it not perfect, but it has the right speed.
I think that if gods had smooth scrolling, it may result in a different game, maybe not better. (the genesis and snes had smooth scroll, and these versions were awful, fast and gods lost it's appeal).
There are a lot of smooth scrolling crap games on the amiga.
( jim power, sotb1 and 2, just to name a few)

Good one

I liked Blues Brothers a lot too, and Titus the Fox (same developers) as well. Nice and speedy gameplay with sharp looking graphics.

Gods is the best platformer on the Amiga, and, in my opinion, the best game on the Amiga, period.

There's nothing wrong with the scrolling whatsoever. It's not supposed to be Sonic the Hedgehog.

Of course there is "something wrong" with Gods. 25 FPS/jerky scrolling and lousy animations, typical for some Bitmap Brothers games. But the rest it top notch, at least the Amiga version. Yolanda is crap, if we are talking about real bad games.

Y'know I can honestly say that before I started reading forums etc, Gods scrolling had never even crossed my mind. I have never seen a problem with it.

Blurry TV? RF connection? I'v used a RGB cable since 1989. Gods scrolling annoyed me ever since. Just like Ruff'n Tumble or Wolfchild. Anyway, all 3 games are pretty good, gameplay-wise.

Yes i sincerly think the same, it's the best Amiga game (all categories included), it may not use all the power of the amiga, still it is the best.
i would say more, it's the best 2d platformer on any machine.

And once again: This thread should be named "Top Ten Amiga games with platforms included", then i could accept Flashback or Benefactor.

But I like to get a dig-in at gods!

its like the never ending opportunity of fun =)

I did forget to put super-frog on my top ten list - its a great game - it can be a little sparse on a couple of levels - but its a great little platformer - with all the essential ingredients

great graphics
smooth scrolling
great tunes
lovable character
nice sound effects
a joy to play

-----

I should list rainbow islands and rod-land as an honary mentions too - both great games on the amiga =)

however rod-land is more "clear screen" and move on - pretty much like bubble bobble ad push-over - both of which should also get a mention on sheer addictivity alone !!!

Interesting that "joy to play" is the last one in your list there Zetro, after the more superficial elements
