Yes I think you're right, he should announce a new FPGA softcore 060 running at 200Mhz with an onbaord SATA 3 controller and 2GB of FASTRAM ready for retail in 2 weeks time

Actually this is what I mean by enough stock..

"You will be able to buy them from us in a few weeks time. We will announce availability on the www.amigakit.com when they are in stock."

I visited the site early yesterday morning.. and no change..

This morning I noticed here that you mentioned they were listed yesterday, after I was on the site.. but "Web Commerce" is blocked at work.. so.. get home and...

Interesting..

I would think that might be because it's not yet in-stock, but there should be some type of pre-order info....

Possibly a website glitch???

I haven't ordered yet either, so it will be interesting to see what's up..

Amigakit???

You can install the card yourself, no need to send every board for installation. However, there is a common defect on SMD-Amigas called "micro-cracks": The computer appears to work normally, but as soon as you plug something on top of a PLCC chip, the pins are bent inwards. If there's a micro-crack on a pin, it will lose contact with the mainboard, maybe causing the whole computer not to work.

The ugly thing about this defect is that it appears like a defect of the accelerator: The computer works without (pin has contact with mainboard), but if the accelerator is installed, the whole computer does not start. This is where SMD soldering comes in: The 68 pins of the 68000 CPU should be soldered with fresh solder, avoiding to apply solder to the sides of the chip.

I'd expect that at least one out of ten A600's have this kind of defect - be it due to low Commodore production quality, previously-installed accelerators or just the age of the machine(s).

Jens, thank you for your hard work and for a lot of patience with explanations the details to us. One more question: I can now see the ACA 630/25 Stealth turbo on Amigakit's page:

http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/...367ac2af466ac5

In the specifications I can read "68EC030 running on 25MHz". On your website in "News" there is "For the A600, the card comes with a full 68030 processor". Which information si correct? There is now 450 posts and I maybe missed something, I apologize if it was already answered.

The info on AmigaKit's site is wrong. The A600 card comes with a full 030 including MMU.

Slightly OT. But, Jens... will you be porting the 600 accelerator to the 500/1000/2000/CDTV?

Would it be that difficult to do? Thanks.

@Jens
I'm just wondering what was the driver for choosing A600 and A1200 as new stuff models ? Is A500 really losing popularity compared to A600 ?
This was a poor's man way to check if ACA530 is roadmapped
Thnx

The price quoted for the ACA630 does that include the fitting?

Cheers

@Amigakit.com or FOL,

maybe it would also be useful to start a new thread in the MarketPlace section to cover the ins and outs of what is needed to be done for the 1200 and 600 cards (as in the other items that were placed there with plenty of information and easy to follow). This thread is getting so big and varied that finding anything is getting fairly confusing.

example is :-
