It's entirely believable though and it's something that has been said from the start.

The people I feel sorry for are those who 'pre-ordered' the X1000 and will probably see nothing of the hardware and will be waiting a hell of a long time for a refund if it is true!

EVERY forum comment posted by A-Eon, Hyperion or one of their employees has been misquoted, ridiculed or flamed, I think they made a huge mistake conducting their business in a public forum.
I suspect that they have reached this conclusion too.

Personally, I am waiting to see the latest article in AmigaFuture magazine.
Having met Trevor in Belfast last year, I believe that things are on track.

Yes of course it was a big mistake. Logic (and experience) dictates that you don't announce a major 'Amiga' hw product years before it is ready for retail, people have been burnt before and are understandable skeptical

At this point-in-time, I'm sorry to say that it's looking unlikely that the X1000 will ever be released.

Well I guess they thought they could do what commodore did in the day of the Pet 2001,,made 3.3 million and only had 3 prototypes..

You're a beta tester? If so, when do you expect to receive the board? Are you not tied by a NDA?

Trevor has just posted on AW.net that the work on the project is still ongoing.

Not interested, regardless of how fast it is, or how much ram it has, etc. These new "Amiga's" are just an over-priced PC with nothing to offer.

I would much prefer to buy an AmigaOS that runs on x86. I am sure more people would be willing to spend money on an OS rather than a new hardware that would take up space and sit beside a PC. Having more people use AmigaOS means more software development.

Hm, the price is one big show stopper. But then some people buy sports cars.
I wish AEON good luck anyway.

Why do some people prefer MacOS over Win?

Amiga OS gets updated regularly by Hyperion Entertainment, and some people like it. Some people like AROS, which is free and runs on standard hardware.

Hmm, sometimes it's the software that makes the OS more valuable for people. Don't think that OS 4.x would hold too fine against those two.

Just kidding. The two most often mentioned arguments for modern Amigas are
a) boot time
b) energy efficiency

The real reason to run Amiga OS 4.1 is to troll wannabe individualistic Apple users and just because.
