I picked a Dingoo (Handheld emulation) and not to long after purchasing it UAE4ALL was released for it. I then installed WinUAE and started playing with some of my WHDLoad installs. Shortly after I dusted off my a1200 and started doing updates to the installs.

What brought you back to Amiga?
1. The games are better. Today's PC games are crap and are not really games but more of a real world simulation. Sometimes I just want to load up Battle Squadron for a good old blast without having to worry about installation/configuration issues and for that, the Amiga is better.

2. I am sick and tired of being held to ransom by Microshaft. Having to upgrade my O.S. because it has DirectX 11, for example, is a con. There are no such issues on the Amiga.

3. Windows is not (and has never been) a finished product. It is constantly a work-in-progress relying on the public to report bugs/security issues. The public are in effect un-paid beta testers. At least Workbench works well and is a finished product.

4. Bill Gates because, well, he's a w*****.

Erm, thats it. Bye!

I never really went away. I got a PC in 1996, but never stopped following the Amiga scene nor did I ever get rid of my Amiga.. Actually I started to accumulate more after I bought the PC, before that it was just me and the A500. :-)

The end of the 90s was a fine time for Amiga related activities. High end gear could be had really cheap, when people were finally giving up and getting rid of their machines.

Wow some great stories here. Glad to see so many people rediscovering the great machines. I have been busy getting my powerhouse main machine going again since I started the post. Managed to get some pictures off of it too, and added to my profile. Hope you enjoy. Really looking forward to building up my skills again.

Well, i had an Amiga when i was 0 years old, actually my parents bought it, my dad was actually able to use it, its absolutely shocking considering he doesnt fair brilliantly with the PC. We probably got rid of it when i was about 3 years old.

I love retro games, so i used Amiga Emulators for a small amount of time when i was about 13 or 14. Then i bought my Amiga 600 about 6 months or so ago.

strangely enough, i have no problem ripping apart a PC and mucking about with the hardware and OS, but i am a complete noob when it comes to the Amiga... the most i have ever done is installed ram into the trapdoor and an 40mb Hd into my A600

back in the day (A500 & A1200), i only really owned the standard machines i also didnt use Workbench cos i didnt have an HD

its a magic box!

Lol im pretty sure the main things we did on it (me and my bro) was playing Lemmings, The Settlers and Pengu. There the only games i remember playing.

I believe my dad used to own a Sinclair ZX81 too, and apparently dabbled in game making, and thats even more unbelievable, considering he's only held a PS1/2/3 controller about five times in his life, an Xbox 360 controller about once, and a Wii controller a few times. He's never played the SNES, N64 or GCN, or the original Xbox. Strangely he's played the PS1, PS2 and PS3.

I never left. I probably won't until my A1200's capacitors give out or someone writes a better version of Kalle Marjola's Knights.
