Yes, that's the point of registering it (besides being able to save hi-scores and the like). Still it's a really 'nice' way of doing shareware, as you can test a lot of games only with a nag screen.

I'm actually more inclined to buy shareware when it's like that. Enough of a nag to remind me to do it, without crippling it or making threats.

Definitely worth it, it's not the keyfile you're paying for as such but all the hard work that went into it and continues to go into supporting it.

From the WHDLoad site

A lot of time and effort has gone into the development of WHDLoad and all the installs which use it. If you want any support for installs and/or WHDLoad, if you want to see new installs and if you want more and new features in WHDLoad - there is one thing that you can do for it: REGISTER WHDLOAD. The amount of time I will spend on the development of WHDLoad and further installs depends on the number of registered users.

A very old statement from Wepl. The main reason for registration today is to cover his monthly website costs. Fair enough.

I thought DM2 was hard drive installable as standard.

"A hard disk is mandatory, as the six disks are merely install disks."

Exactly. So why would you need WHDLoad for it?

I'm sure I'm missing the point.

I bet it's for faster CPUs, but have a look in the readme on WHDLoad.de to be sure.

That does seem to make more sense, seeing as today's output of new/updated installs isn't really anything like the good old days. Must be that cursed entity known as Real Life taking over.

I bought the key very recently, and it's worth every penny. The combination of the WHDLoad, ClassicWB and WinUAE has definitely resurrected the Amiga scene for me.

Well said!

No longer do I have to rummage through disk boxes or my piles of boxed games to run the stuff I want. It's now all on hard drive.

A cracking piece of software, and worth every single penny.
