This reminds me how much I love this game. Erh, would you agree on that Mr. Gilbert has a spark of madness in his eyes? Nevertheless

Yeah looks quite nice I think. I'm not keen on downloadable only stuff though. Hopefully there'll be a retail version.

There was none for MI1 SE, afaik. Would be interesting to know if you can at least download it and copy it on CD.

I thought it was a steam thing?

I know you can use steam to backup your downloaded game to cd / dvd. However you still require a valid steam install to use it.

With the epidodic stuff (Sam & Max, Tales of MI) there was a 'retail bundle' at the end of each 'season'. Like gilgamesh said MI SE isn't avaiblable as a retail version (guess they don't consider it to make any more bucks that way...). Welcome to the future Dast

Woohoo! Went to the flea market this morning and saw a whole cardboard box of MD games. Thought about buying the lot just for the sake of having them. Then I realised that I have all the games at home already and that it would be just wasted space. I know what you mean and am tempted to go back now. No I'm not. Well, maybe. Damn you Dast!

I can feel you there, I want to hoard things too

However, I do see why Steam and other Direct Downloads can be convenient and gives one a way to redownload after an OS resinstall as you just download the Steam client and logon and start the download once again

Steam is rubbish. Sole purpose is to control you and take away your freedom.

Not really, you dont need a connection anymore to use steam games, you can switch to "offline" mode.

Where as before I would have agreed with you.

Can you download the games you paid for to a CD once and then install and play them without any network access?
(That is, can you still install and play it in ten years? Or lend it now to your frineds? etc.)

Cracking games that you paid for is

If the publishers think they can do this to customers, then I'm no longer a customer. I found a game for €5,- recently. One that I would have loved to play. It needed online registration, so it stayed where it was.

Not always. For example, I used to happily crack my legal copy of Morrowind to remove the copy protection cd-check, which degrades performance quite a bit.

(nowadays I have it as a mountable iso to not even damage the cd through usage).
