Parallel external CD drive

I have an old PC parallel external cdrom drive.
Is it possible to use it in amiga?
Anyone ever tried this?

I think it is not possible for the same reason why parallel ZIP drives don't work: because the Amiga's parallel port does not have all required signals.

Perhaps the hack for parallel ZIP drives also works with CD drives: http://aminet.net/package/docs/hard/ppazip

If it works, it will be dead slow. A 100Mb zip drive takes 25 minutes (!) just to format, transfer speeds are a laugh (for a very bad joke).

Or ebay, ebayer's will buy anything!

For a cheap CD ROM solution look out for a cheap external SCSI CD ROM (I got one on ebay for £7) and hope you can find a cheap Squirrell (I got one at an Amiga Fair for £3) But the latter are usually more expensive, you might find one via these boards or Amibay though...

I was just trying to save the integrity of my 2nd amiga 1200 case, instead of cuting the case for a laptop cd-rom like i did on my 1st.
I wasn't thinking of spending money but you made me wonder. I'll take a look around and see what i can find.
