Virus
This was one of the earlier games I had on my A500 and I thought it was really cool, an open environment, really cool 3d graphics and gravity.. but I could never get past the 2nd or 3rd level! How far did you get in this game? And do you have any tips? I've always wanted to get further in it. Thanks guys.

I'm not answering your question in any way, so sorry about that; but if you like Virus, and if you haven't done so already, check out Zeewolf and its sequel. Trust me on this.

I love Zeewolves, but I also have both releases of Virus (european and american) and I really ADMIRE that game. I got to the 3rd level only, though

It's 3D so Atari ST version should be smoother and faster http://atarilegend.com/games/games_d...php?game_id=44

Not that you could honestly notice any massive change though.I had an ST and loved Virus for this machine but the only difference i noticed was sound when i moved over to playing on Amiga.Coming from playing the Archimedes then i think you'd have a point.Perhaps if ST Amiga side by side but ask anyone even then on the street if they could see it, i doubt it.Were it say the difference of say a 68010 then you could at least see the comparison but the difference you describe is next to nothing from my experience of it.But hey maybe i'm very wrong with this Better sound on ST though i would say |

s2325 - I bet it's identical on ST as there is clever usage of screen-areas (see landscape) and polygons are quite small, like for a lot of games released on both platforms. Compare to f.ex. Starglider 2, CPU polygons all the way. I'll grant the difference between 7.16 and 8MHz, not that that translates into more frames per second in any way.
And the title picture is better than the one Mr. Braben drew... even though it's far from great, it's also far from the Amiga version's pic ![]() Hehe, anyway. I just came here to tip off DJ Stabmaster that Galahad's fixed version of Virus should still be in The Zone - just copy it to harddisk and play. ![]()

Wasn't the Archimedes version called Zarch...? Or have I got that wrong?
And in answer to the original question - I absolutely LOVED Virus back in the day (had it as a pirate copy originally, but enjoyed it so much I tracked down an original in Derby Market Hall), but never managed to get off of level 2... |

The limited Zarch version that came with Archimedes was actually called Lander - I have the floppy to prove it
