hehehe, like $87Million or so?
I'd think that'd be "highly" unlikely, I'd still be curious to see what, (if anything), would happen...

Depends a bit on where you live, i.e. under which jurisdiction. I am curious, too.

Maybe the owner does not know his fate, yet. Or maybe the software really is abandoned ware by now. Would the rights fall back to the original authors, when the owning corporation ceases to exist?

Why don't we have a web site titled 'MehdiAli.com' and host Workbench/Kickstart on there. Then Mehdi can take all the flak.

@ blade002,

surely you realise that you can't leave a message like that!
Green and Red simply don't compliment one another

Does this mean that the Kickstart and Workbench stupidity is finally over and maybe it will become a legal reality to swap disks etc without people crying piracy?

This still doesn't excuse the fact that Amiga.Inc were some of the most useless bunch of pricks to ever grace the Amiga or to ever NOT grace it is probably more apt.

I have met you Whiteb, you're a nice guy so i don't want to get into a shit fight with you over this.

And those colours just don't compliment me either perhaps a dash of turquoise to accentuate my eyes in a deep and meaningful flurry of emotional bliss?

I'm not quite sure how to answer that one well maybe "ooh you are awful but I like you" will suffice

I know Blade, I was just nauseated at the Mixture of colors like others here LOL.

Perhaps a shade of Blue to indicate the veins bulging from your eyes from the Sheer pressure popping them out of their sockets

Copyright NEVER goes away, the scum bag suits of this world have made sure of that with the most ludicrous timescales for natural copyright expiration the slimey useless beings they are.

So to answer the question who owns the copyright to kickstart/workbench it will be the liquidator of a company that goes bankrupt and then either a separate purchaser or one of the creditors who may accept the copyright ownership in lieu of payment.

As for Cloanto....and anyone involved in that overpriced rubbish like Amiga Forever (and the even more lame and overpriced C64 Forever...which legally is on the same dubious ground as a DVD-R sold on ebay actually) they can go to hell to.

As far as copyright goes.....ALL companies should be forced to produce a physical product for sale in full packaging in a minimum quantity of 100,000 units or else relinquish copyright.

So if you host a game like say DonkeyKong.TAP on your website....and Nintendo issue you a warning to remove it...in a sane world a judge would say "get a fucking life you slimey lawyer bastards, fire up your tape duplication machines and printing press and get 100,000 copies of Donkey Kong mastered for the Commodore 64 in 48 hours or your copyright is dissolved forever" however we live in a crazy world where such common sense in our legal system does not exist and copyright on old crusty games you will never find again is enforced in this new era of information dispersal.
