Floppy disk 400 disks "dumped" by Dpainter (sold)

Today I put up four boxes of Amiga disks on eBay, my first auction in three years (U.S. shipping only).

For you Amiga emulation fans who can't/won't bid on these, fear not, I'll let you know that I dumped most of these disks using DISK2FDI and came up with a number of alternate cracks that are now in the latest TOSEC dat. Some of the disks have the game cheats written on them.

Titles include Arkanoid, Block Out, Thunder Jaws, Cannon Fodder, Silent Service II, Gunboat, Hybris, Vyper, Brat, Star Wars, Killing Game Show, Blood Money, Soldier of Light, Flight of the Intruder, F29 Retaliator, Thunder Blade, Jet Strike, 688 attack sub...

UPDATE: Sold for US$76.

So how come you didn't give any of us first crack at these?

I know the shipping will still not be that cheap even UPS ground but hey I would have been interested, I know the bids are low now, but hey who knows where they will end up at

I thought by dumping them into TOSEC I was giving everyone at EAB first crack? But seriously, I have probably 400 more so if you want first crack, lemme know.

Apparently you can ship computer media at media mail (book rate) and supposedly 25 lbs would be around US$10. Slow shipping, but cheap.

Just e-mailed a guy in my area who has about 650 Amiga disks (500 backups and 160 program disks(!?!)). I offered him $10 per 100, which is about what I paid for the auction disks. Hopefully they'll sell for at least that much or my wife will give me a critical beatdown.

DP, I wanna say how much I love your dumps, but somehow it all sounds a bit perverse, really.

Yeah, it's something better left unspoken. Men of course appreciate the dumps of other men, because they establish a sort of primitive common bond that says "We are made of the same stuff, you and I, and your dumps are compatible with my dumps. In fact, your dumps are my dumps. We are not that different."

OK, I'll stop now and let everyone know if I do some new, er, disk transfers.

Although this thread is forever tainted by the scent of dumps, I wanted to note the following lessons I'm learning as an amateur seller on eBay:

1) Don't forget to include handling in your item description when selling heavy and/or delicate stuff like lots of disks. I had to buy US$6 in bubble wrap to safely ship these but couldn't charge the guy since I didn't mention handling.

2) Don't assume that "book rate" or media mail is cheaper. In fact, since the buyer lived close by, standard mail was US$3 less than book rate!

3) Don't sell your Amiga disks unless your wife is complaining about the lack of closet space! You'll regret it when you realize what a pain in the butt it is to create Amiga disks from ADFs.

Floppy disk LOL - update

You can all stop crying yourselves to sleep on your huge pillows, because the guy who bought my 400 disks is selling 300 of them on eBay right now under a different name. :laugh

This is a case of the quick turn around, and apparently he expects to make more $$$ by listing the contents.

Poor abused, reused and homeless disks...
