EAB/Lemon Super League 2010: Round 1 - Apidya

EAB/Lemon Super League 2010: Round 1 - Apidya

Well, here we go once more. A new season and everyone starts on zero. Fresh from losing the Knockout crown, can someone also knock rexsu off his League perch?

Starts: 00:01 January 17
Finishes: 23:59 February 6

Rules

Post screenshots of your scores in this thread, and write your score underneath. You can enter as many times as you like within the round's time frame.

The following options MUST be set - Level: Normal, Lives: 3, Teammode: No, 1UP: Every 20000.

No cheating of any kind (including score leeching) - this includes save states. No continues/passwords allowed. If you suspect a contestant of cheating then don't post it in public (anyone who does so will have their posts edited or deleted) - please PM me, Biscuit or mihcael and we will investigate it. If we find anyone guilty of cheating then they will be banned for the entire season.

Please only post your score on either the EAB or Lemon forums. If you have already played this year you have to post your score on the same forum for the whole season. If you are new, the one you post on first will be your team for the whole season. However you are welcome to discuss the compo, game etc. on the other forum if you wish.

Remember, anyone can join in at any time. Have fun and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Default is 5 lives. With so many people participating chances are very high someone is going to miss that rule.

We played it a few years back with these settings and there wasn't a problem and in all honesty I do credit everybody with enough intelligence and integrity to spot this.

Took a very blurry pic of my score when I died on level 3-2... however I think it's still possible to make it out so it counts I realised at the start that I forgot to delete my old highscore file so this has to do for now.

WHDLoad version can set this to default. You just have to choose SAVE in the options as you finish your selection choices.

I have no idea what this means. I had about 74,000 starting act 3. I look up and my score is all whacky. Also, this game is cheap as shit. It's alright, though.

I don't know if it 136,xxx or what... I used the disk images given in this thread.

Any chance you can try the WHDload version next time?

Maybe the images are dodgy. There are several on PlanetEmu and I've a horrible feeling I've picked rubbish ones. Again.

I have not bothered with installing Winuae until today. I've been using Windows 7 for the last few months and install programs as I need them. The issue I am having right now as per the workbench guide, is in chapter 4. There always seems to be something that I get hung on. Last time i followed it, there were some silly things that didn't work but from my small knowledge did not seem to affect anything. It's really becoming frustrating following this guide verbatim and not getting the same reult.

I can't say if I'll even bother with loading WHD.

edit* i just played another version and it seems like the files may be botched. In the files in this thread i could go through the fish on stage 2. When i tried files i have on my computer I was cursing as to why i was dying as i went through the fish. Until i realized that you couldn't go through the fish...I had questioned why I didn't do going through the fish on the old files...now i know.

Aha, so I've linked to a dodgy version.

Anyone know where a good version is? I really don't have the time or patience to check, to be honest, so any help would be appreciated.

I just played on my version and all was going well until i got passed 103,740. Then it went to 126:6 1 and gave me 3 more lives. Ironically, I think this is more of a glitch. Ill have to test it out.

My scores so far have been done using the WHDLoad-version.

Just tried the ADFs on another PC and the emulated A500 resetted after defeating the big fish.

Going to try the [WT]-cracks (Wing Tsun?) instead of the Quartex ones now...

edit: Great, the WT-cracked ADFs are even worse (can't load the game). Gonna try the 3-disk-version cracked by [GOD].

Don't pay attention for 0.2 seconds - and it's over.

97,188 (<= invalid)

The [GOD] 3-disk crack works.

What are the rules concerning autofire? This is a game for example that is many times easier with autofire.

The only time autofire isn't allowed is if it is an actual power-up (like in Deluxe Galaga) as that would be construed as an unfair advantage.

Oh and sorry John, just had a careful look at your screenshot... the second player has five lives, did you accidentally forget to change the number of lives in the options? As all the other screenshots show three lives. Unless that's just the crack you're using or something.

Argh, those damn floppies seem to not have saved my settings when I previously pushed "SAVE". After loading the game again I must've missed this.

You're correct - thus my last score is invalid.

edit: Tried again - when you select 3 lives and start the game with these [cr GOD]-ADFs you have 3 lives. When you push <Escape> and start again all the settings are back to default (5 lives, joystick, etc.) - even if you've selected SAVE before.

Ouch! That's probably irritating though not as irritating as me doing my job properly for a change

Bit rubbish that there seems to be something wrong with most of these cracks (if not all...)

You may join my club. I mentioned the reason for the retarded scores on lemon. EAB was not working for me. When you shoot the plumes of smoke from the cigs on 3-1 and 3-2 with no upgrades -bye bye score and time to restart game.

I think overall its a fun game but its stupid too. I love the music, though.

Yes, the music is a very important aspect why I like this game so much. In Turrican II Chris Hülsbeck did an even better job.

I found this game is easier without any speedups.

This is one of the very few games I will not turn the volume down and stick a CD on for at all. Really excellent soundtrack.

Screwed up badly this go - but seems it happened in the right places:

One of those games where you get rewarded for not playing perfectly. Still the best sidescrolling shoot'em up on the Amiga in my opinion.

It is indeed a problem !
Why not give a bonus (in points) to compensate and to reward !

137,330

Otherwise, the 'GOD' version gives me a Guru Meditation after the first big boss...
So i tried this version Apidya (1992)(Kaiko - Play Byte)[cr QTX][t +40 ATX].zip and YES, that works

Yes, 10k for every remaining life could be a good solution. Only problem is: you can't see how many lives you have if you have more than five...

Two ideas: 1) Even though you can't see lives it would be lives x 10,000 = xxx,xxx and my favorite 2) Points are deducted based on how many lives you have.

Things will really get stirred up if two people have similar scores but one died more. Sucks for you!
