Question Question: A500 rev6 and A600 KS 3.1 Roms

Hello. I have an extra KS 3.1 rom that was going to be for my A500 R6a motherboard. I just picked up an A600 off eBay : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Question: Can my A500R6 rom be used in my new A600? Thanks in advance for any insight on this subject.

Yes, all Amiga single-chip ROMs are interchangeable

*EDIT* - If I remember correctly, the A600 has an extra (unused) row on the notch end of the ROM socket...so pay close attention to the position of the original before swapping them over. The chip should sit toward the "rear" of the socket, with the empty row on the notch end.

PZ.

You may be lucky. From Revision 6A the A500 will take a 512Kbyte kickstart EPROM without modification. That means your EPROM probably won't have any wiring patches applied to it required for earlier A500 motherboards. It and should fit in the A600 as described above.

I cannot believe how much you paid for your A600. You could have done a deal with a UK member for $30! (Edit: Ah, the price was for the 4Mbyte PCMCIA SRAM card)

I wish the stuff was as cheap and abundant as in the UK. In the states we pay at least double. If anyone has a A1200 reasonable, I'd be interested

But us UK people say the same thing about US stuff. There are always deals to be had with UK members for this sort of thing.

A sort of eBay exchange.
