What I would LOVE to see.

A parrallel processed machine.
The Video, audio, and modem, independant of the main processor.
A video card that could be UPdated with the current drivers for ALL video formats you wish to use.
Either expand IRQ's to 8 bit(0-256) or get rid of them totally. (they are now only 4 bit(0-15)).
An OS that could handle Multiple CPU's. For get 2.8 Ghz.. 4x1ghz would be fine by me.
An OS that dont load DRIVERS untill you want to USE that device, and then UNLOADS them, and free's up RAM.
Something with a NATIVE video mode that AINT a RAW format..(BMP is a RAW format)(16 meg RAW= 1.6 meg compressed(Jpg)).
An OS where ANYone can program, or tweak it, if you WANT to.
An OS anyone can make a program for, with out spending $1000's of dollors for permission, documents, or training....
How, about an OS, that when it chokes, its NOT suicide. One that you can GET into and correct it(with out FORMATING first).

Most of this reminds me of the AMIGA.:eek
