Force NTSC on PAL a1200
Hey is it possible to get a pal a1200 to force ntsc modes on bootup? I've been using the mono composite, but every time I boot up, it is in PAL modes, which my tv cant center. After selecting an NTSC mode, I do what I want, then reboot. It is PAL again. I don't have a mouse, so I can't get to early startup menu. is there a parameter i could change or a mod I could perform to allow this?

Do you have a Sega Master System or Genesis control pad? If you do, plug it into the mouse port and hold down buttons 1&2 or B&C, which will bring you the early startup menu. Then you can use the keyboard to move the pointer around the screen by holding one of the Amiga keys and using the arrow keys, with Shift to accelerate, Left Alt+Left Amiga is Left Mouse button (or button 1/B on the Sega pads) and Right Alt+Right Amiga is Right Mouse button (or button 2/C).
Unfortunately every time you press one of the keys, it will switch between PAL and NTSC mode, so just make sure you press a key to turn it to NTSC after you have chosen NTSC from the Display Options menu. I'm not sure if either option overrides the other, but just make sure both the option and the screen itself are NTSC before you press the button to boot (might be best to use the controller rather than a key to click the buttons). |

There is a hardware solution to force NTSC from PAL machines and vice versa: removing/adding a resistor to Alice pin #41 (yeah, the same old trick from A500/2000).
Only on A1200/600 the resistor is a SMD unit soldered on motherboard. Check A1200's schematics.
