Idefix installation question

The Amiga1200 is waiting next to me. I installed Idefix from a floppy. Do I need to select atapi.device or would scsi.device work for the CDROM?

There is a 6GB 2.5" hdd and a slim cdrom connected to internal 2.5" ide port.

I think scsi.device works only when using it from OS3.9 (3.5?). So, atapi.device.

If you run the IDEfix software in startup-sequence, you can use scsi.device. If you don't use IDEfix, you need atapi.device.

I'm asking this because when I reboot my Amiga, I get an error. It's something like cannot open atapi.device unit 1. Everything works when I first power up. I think there is a problem with power. The cdrom is a 3.5" slim cdrom. It's power by the floppy power connector as well. I'll need to figure something out. Will post some pictures when I'm finished playing with it a little

I connect an external ATAPI CD-ROM drive to my A1200 when required via an externally mounted socket which gives access to the internal 4-way IDE buffered interface. That error message comes up when I boot the Amiga without the CD-ROM drive connected, because it cannot be detected whilst my configuration always expects to see it. If I just cancel the requester, then everything works okay (but without the CD-ROM, obviously).

That message will appear if your CD-ROM drive is not connected or powered up properly, but I'm not sure why it should appear when you reboot if it does not appear when you first power up.
