Will it work? External SCSI CDROM Project
Hi!
I have just bought a SCSI CDR off of ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWNX:IT It comes with a SCSI Cable 50pin CN to 25 Pin & Terminator. My Typloon MK2 has a SCSI onboard and a 50 pin SCSI header on the card. What I want to do is create a SCSI port in the empty SCSI space at the back of my A1200 (Desktop) case so what I think I need is: 50pin SCSI Ribbon cable 50pin Internal-External 25pin Backplane that I can fabricate to fit. (Seen this on abay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT Now looking for cheaper/Uk supplier) Will it work? In theory I expect it to! But maybe someone has the experiance in trying something like this. I want to use the CD Rom for reading/writing data and CD32 games, does Classic WB ADV SP have the drivers I need or will I need to DL some? I have also posted in the Marketplace as I require these parts (having trouble finding them on ebay or online) Thanks in advance for any help/advice. Cheers, Steve. I use an adaptor from vesalia that's basically what you linked to. Works fine.
Just be aware of termination . I use it on the 2000, 3000 and on the 500.I use a CF card with CF->IDE adaptor and SCSI->IDE bridge with it. |

Sorta the other way around from what you want - i use one of those along with the acard in an external box, and connect it to the external SCSI port of the 3000, 2000 and 500 via a 25 pin APC (all pins connected) cable. I've even connected the box to 2 via a parallel switchbox, which works for SCSI providing you have APC cables. |

I think that will work, plug into the SCSI header in the card then plug the SCSI cable from the CDR into it, I am sure I can find a way to make a fitting so it is secure to the case.
As long as I terminate the through port on the CDR it should work, shouldn't it? Thanks again! I think you could have saved me some money here. Steve. Last edited by fitzsteve; 10 December 2009 at 19:03. |

Should do. I have a jumper to terminate the device I'm using rather than needing to put a terminator on the through port, but that should do it
