Indy Last Crusade on ScummVM

Wasn't sure whether to add this to MethodGit's thread but thought it might be slightly OT...

With TCD's help, I've got all the Amiga versions of the LucasArts games on ScummVM. On Indy 3, the code protection at the beginning - in the form of Marcus asking Indy to translate something, and you're meant to use the translation table in the game box.

I get in wrong, then get a message saying I can only play in demo mode - save/load disabled.

Now this doesn't matter in itself as ScummVM has it's own save/load feature, but my question is: is the game completable in this mode, or will I be kicked out later?

Just use the LucusArts code generator : http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=570522&postcount=8
Not sure, but I don't think you can play the game with the wrong code.

Here it is again. Somebody should translate this code generator to English.

I always thought that codes didn't matter in SCUUM? It's written to bypass all protection anyway, I think. I know that I've played Indy and Monkey Island 1 and II - none of which were cracked - to completion with no problems.

*Edit* From the SCUUM faq:

3.1) Copy Protection:
----------------------
The ScummVM team does not condone piracy. However, there are cases where the game companies (such as LucasArts) themselves bundled 'cracked' executables with their games -- in these cases the data files still contain the copy protection scripts, but the interpreter bypasses them (similar to what an illegally cracked version might do, only that here the producer of the game did it). There is no way for us to tell the difference between legitimate and pirated data files, so for the games where we know that a cracked version of the original interpreter was sold at some point, ScummVM will always have to bypass the copy protection.

In some cases ScummVM will still show the copy protection screen. Try entering any answer. Chances are that it will work.

http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Us...opy_protection

ScummVM will skip copy protection in the following games:
  • Maniac Mansion
  • Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders
  • Loom (EGA)
  • The Secret of Monkey Island (VGA)
  • Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge
  • Lure of the Temptress bypassed with kind permission from Revolution Software.
  • Beneath a Steel Sky bypassed with kind permission from Revolution Software.
  • Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb (Floppy version) bypassed with kind permission from Wyrmkeep Entertainment, since it was bypassed in all CD releases of the game.
  • Simon the Sorcerer 1 (Floppy version)
  • Simon the Sorcerer 2 (Floppy version) bypassed with kind permission from Adventure Soft, since it was bypassed in all CD releases of the game.
Not for the LA Indy games.

Yeah, I saw that list but I've definitely played BOTH Indy adventures to completion in SCUUM. I've just checked again and they're not cracks, either.

Just out of interest, was it the Amiga version? And if so was it the original release or a budget re-release? I don't think LucasArts were already consistent.

ScummVM did bypass copy protection for other LA games, but not this one for some reason...

Ah, it's the FM Towns version! Fate of Atlantis is PC, though (CD Rom version) and that also works perfectly.
